PROBABILITY & STATISTICAL DATA ANALYSIS

Reflection On PSDA Project 1

What you learn & what u improve in yourself from this project

I learned a lot from this project. First, the greatest skill I learned is R programming skill. This is my first time using R programming. We are required to use R programming to visualise our data. So we need to study the way to write code in R and also debugging when we face the error. Besides, this is my first time creating a google form and I am the one who is responsible for creating our google form. So, I learned a lot of knowledge and aspect to consider in creating a survey form. For example, I learned the correct way to ask a question and ways to arrange the questions. Then, I also improved my skill in academic writing. In this project, I have a lot of chance to analyse the result of our study so I learned how to explain and analyse a chart or a graph.

what is the biggest challenge you see in this project

I think the biggest challenge that my group ever faced is we found that actually some of the data we collected is not suitable for our study. This causes us not sure which data should we use and what kind of graphical representation we should use. Besides, originally, we plan to form a relationship between 2 or more variables, but after we are done collecting data, we realised that this is not easy as we thought it is. We found that most of the variable we have hard to establish a relationship with other variables. Next, another challenge we faced is we are not really good in describing the result of our study while writing our report, we frequently find ourselves stretching our mind to figure out how to analyse the result of our study.

what you feel after you conducted this survey

After my group conducted this study, all of us including me, I have a better understanding of the difference between male and female when it comes to choosing a partner. For me, I originally thought that in choosing a partner, everyone has a different preference and it is not affected by gender but affected by personality. Through this study, I learned gender does play a huge role in this thing. For example, male tend to choose female that are shorter, but females tend to choose the male who is higher. Or male tend to choose female that is the same age as them, but female like to have a partner who has an older age. After I have an understanding, I know that what should I do and who should I focus on.

the mistake we made

We have done some mistake like collected unsuitable data because we created some wrong questions in our google form. This cause we face difficulty while doing the visualisation and analysis of data. For example, we are forced to used unsuitable graphical representation for some of the data. Besides, we have made mistakes in doing our R programming. We only realised some graphical representation is wrong when we are writing our report. For example, our first scatter plot is based on 2 variables that have no correct or suitable relationshipThen, we need to go back and edit or change our code. Last but not least, we also made some mistakes while writing our report. We didn't use the correct technique to discuss the result of our study at the beginning. For example, we didn't include the relative frequency percentage in our discussion and we also didn't try to explain the possible reason on "why we will get this kind of result"
