MINI REPORT

The Majlis Anugerah Tun Razak 2020 (MATRA'20) at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia's Kolej Tun Razak was a notable event. Due to the pandemic, it was held virtually through Zoom and Facebook Live, demonstrating the adaptability and resilience of the organizing team and participants. This was not just a ceremony but also a celebration of academic, athletic and extracurricular achievements. Its goal was to recognize outstanding accomplishments and foster a competitive yet collaborative spirit among students. The ceremony began with inspirational and celebratory speeches. The recipients' expressions of pride and joy as awards were presented exemplified the spirit of achievement and recognition. Performances and speeches added depth to the event. We provided a venue for artistic expression and showcased the diverse talent of undergraduates during this event. The event ends with a vibrant and ceremonious spirit on the day of MATRA'20. MATRA'20 promoted a unique blend of formality and warmth. The event managed to retain the grandeur of a traditional award ceremony while remaining approachable and engaging. The use of digital platforms for the event enabled a broader reach, allowing participants to join from various locations and enhancing the sense of community despite the COVID-19 pandemic.

SELF-REFLECTION

The event helped me to develop the strength of determination and teamwork in overcoming obstacles. MATRA'20's success was based not only on the awards given or received but also on the collective effort of everyone involved. It was a learning experience for me, improving my multimedia and publicity skills while also providing insights into the complexities of virtual event management.

My responsibilities as one of the committee members in the Multimedia and Publicity unit for MATRA'20 included designing a logo, creating posters, creating an advertising video, crafting advertising copywriting, and designing and arranging e-certificates. These elements were critical during the event in conveying the essence and prestige of the occasion, capturing the attention and interest of the attendees.

These tasks taught me the value of cohesive visual communication and its impact on audience engagement. Creating the logo and poster required a thorough understanding of the event's theme and objectives, which pushed me to think creatively and innovatively. The process taught me not only about design and marketing but also about teamwork and time management. Each task contributed significantly to the event's success and my personal growth.

Reflecting on this event’s experience, I realize how valuable communication skill and problem-solving skills are. These abilities will undoubtedly help me in my future endeavours, both academically and professionally. This opportunity has been a life-changing learning experience, transforming me into a more capable and versatile individual.

I saw my efforts bear fruit such as the logo I designed was prominently displayed, and the posters and advertising video attracted many attendees. I was also one of the winners of the academic award Tun Rahah 2020. The e-certificate was evidence of my accomplishments. This experience was a journey of growth and learning, filled with moments that put my skills and resilience to the test. The awardees' joy and pride were the ultimate reward, reflecting the true essence of the event.

MATRA'20 was a celebration of talent and an appreciation for students and it promoted the spirit of academic and extracurricular excellence. This event left an indelible impression on me, serving as a reminder of what can be accomplished through teamwork, creativity, and determination.
