RESPONSE PAPER - A PRACTICE

This is an article from Berita Harian regarding 4K Syndrome existing among undergraduates in local university. This assignment requires us to identify the logical fallacies used in the article hence writing a response paper about it.

Nadia had created a logical fallacy of 'appeal to improper authority' as she only interviewed Dr. Affandi Ahmad who is the Dean of the Electrical and Electronics faculty and the head of Kolej Kediaman Perwira Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM). He is an expert in engineering but not in the medical field. This issue requires a medical expert who is a more appropriate candidate for Nadia's interview. This 4K Syndrome is a clinical health issue which Dr. Affandi is not capable with.

Other than Dr. Affandi, Nadia also interviewed the President of Student Association, Universiti Malaya, Hazwan Shafiq Asnan who may not be able to provide with an expertise. Instead of getting clinical facts, Nadia proposed her own perspective towards the 4K syndrome, supported by wrong authorities who are Dr. Affandi and Hazwan. Her personal opinion without concrete evidence from suitable authority is considered as weak and refutable.
