Mini Report

"Malam Silaturahim Architech 2022" is an annual programme organised by Architectural Association (Architech) UTM, Skudai, specifically made to welcome new students. The programme aimed to ensure seniors and juniors would become close acquaintances throughout their architecture degree. The programme was carried out for three days in a row with events such as an ice-breaking session, an Archi Talk, and a talent night performance. This activity has the role of nurturing UTM graduate attributes, including communication skills, thinking skills, and leadership and teamwork skills. By joining this activity, abilities such as the ability to communicate with people from different cultures and backgrounds, the ability to think critically, and the ability to lead and influence team members to complete given tasks were successfully cultivated. The activities carried out throughout the programme were an ice-breaking session between the new students, outdoor field games, Archi Talk by Dr Alice Sabrina, Senamrobik, The Amazing Race, and Talent Night Performance by all the participants.

Self Reflection

"Malam Silaturahim Architech 2022" is the first programme for which I am holding a committee position as a second-year architecture student. This programme is indeed a rewarding and worthwhile experience in my academic life as a second-year architecture student. Being assigned as the Head of the Gifts and Souvenirs Department is unexpected, but I feel grateful to be trusted. Throughout the preparation stage before the programme started, task distribution was an extremely important responsibility of mine in order to ensure the workflow moved smoothly and was able to meet the timeline. This event has nurtured my ability to convey ideas in writing clearly, effectively, and comprehensibly, my ability to look for alternative ideas and creative solutions, as well as my ability to understand other people's attitudes and behaviours, respect their ideas, and foster mutual trust. Through this programme, I have learned a lot from others, especially when it comes to teamwork that requires full mutual trust. One of the challenges that I have met in this programme is the communication breakdown that happens once in a while due to a lack of communication between each other.
