AWS Module Journey
During the earlier weeks of SECP1523 class, Dr. Izyan assigned us to complete the Amazon Web Service module which consist of cloud computing architecture and etc. This module also can gives us insights about what's happening on the inside world of technology. Dr. Izyan politely remind me to complete the module as early as I can as it takes up to hours to complete it. The learning process is quite tough because I'm not very familiar with the user interface especially when I'm trying to complete the lab exercise given in the module. But as soon as I get a hold of the interface, every lab and quizzes went quite well. Also, that is their method of learning, with a lab for inquiry and slides from presentation films to provide a complete understanding. The module really guide me in getting the AWS badge. For your information it took me 2 days to complete from module 1 till module 10. It was a very tiring journey but it was super worth it as the badge or so called AWS Certification is very useful for me as a student of computer science in the future.
- Reflection On AWS Module
Firstly, I gained a lot of ideas and knowledge upon completing this course. For example, module 4 taught me how to recognize the shared responsibility model and the customer's and AWS's respective responsibilities. The benefit of it is that in order to describe different forms of security credentials in IAM, I can distinguish IAM users, groups, and roles. The most important thing in completing the module is I achieved the AWS Module badge that would benefit me in the future. If I’m being honest, the module really makes me worn out because it consumes a lot of time, hours, even days. The thing that keeps me motivated while completing the module is music. For your information I really like listening to R&B music while doing work, so by listening to music it makes me calm and relaxed while doing the module. Next, in my opinion, obtaining the badge is not hard but not that easy either. Although sometimes I face a few troubles while doing the lab, I’ll make sure to successfully complete it. For me the easiest module is Module 1 because it consists only of the introduction of AWS services. The hardest part in the module is module 7 because there's so many types of AWS storage such as Amazon S3 etc. At first I couldn't differentiate between all the other storage but lastly I got a hang of it. If you asked me, is the badge worth getting? It actually does because it helped me build credibility and also give the insight of AWS systems which benefit many people especially for business owners. The badge really does improve my knowledge and skills on Cloud Computing because there are many labs being done through the module which gives me hands -on experience creating cloud storage and many more. In my perspective, most companies should shift to cloud computing because it is more flexible. As an example, the service provides the employee flexibility to work in any location. All UTM students must learn about cloud computing and get the badge because it really helps a lot because it gives the exposure to the students about new technology. My advice to everyone who still hasn't got the badge is that you should get the badge because it boosts your chance of getting an interview when you apply for jobs and also gives you input about the benefits of cloud computing. My direction after this is I want to make sure that most people in Malaysia are aware about cloud computing because it benefits employers, also employees and not to forget keeping data on cloud computing is far more safer than physical servers and data centers .As a conclusion, including the AWS badge into SECP1513 subject is a great move because it is extremely helpful in giving exposure of cloud computing to the students as well as obtain carry marks for final examination.
