Leadership and Teamworking Skills

Mini Report

In this theatre, there were two production who performed during the 2 days show. Penunggu Pusaka performed on the first day, followed by Lets Chat et Les Lois on the second day. I was an actor for Penunggu Pusaka and a back stager for Lets Chat et Les Lois as a prop manager. Throughout the training for about a month, we experienced new things and learn on parts of theatre that we never know before. A late-night training would be very sufficient for our training, but it costs us in the morning - sleepy at class. For this activity, the graduate attribute that can be retrieved is leadership and teamworking skills. This is because in a production team, we will pass the role around the circle. Not the same person will be the leader. Every day, different person will take over the job. When it comes to me, I learn on how to handle people when they are having trouble with discipline, giving reminder so that they are not late to join the practice etc. Since this activity will require everyone who must be on screen joined the runs on time, they cannot be late. Or else, the whole production is delayed. From here I can also see the important of teamworking skills. Reminding friend to not late for a practice and be disciplined.

Self Reflection

Personally, I have been loving the field of performing arts since secondary school where I involved myself a lot in acting, dancing, and choir. It is a pleasure for me to know that UTM offers such great event for me to join. Emphasizing the leadership and teamworking skills, yes, it is highly impactful when we are in the production team. During pre-production, everyone will be helpful in making sure that every actor delivers their characters successfully. The stage manager and director will be the backbone of actors if they are in any doubt or have difficulty while bringing their characters on stage. Plus, teamworking is applied when working on props and costume. It is neither one-man job nor one-day task. It took several weeks to prepare everything. Therefore, everybody worked together to finish everything on time. By joining this activity, I found that my self-strength is standing in front of crowd and talk. I can apply this when giving presentation in class to be seen more confident. Talking about challenges, for me it is all about time management. Be a well-planned person in time to avoid undesirable things to happen. Make sure to balance between academic and activities. Overall, I loved to be a part of this society again as the people in it were very supportive and willing to hear your problems and guide you to become more professional soon. To watch our full performance, feel free to slide in through this link at Penunggu Pusaka - Google Drive
