PROJECT

As a student, working in a group for a certain project is considered to be a normal thing. Therefore, for this project, I was grouped with two wonderful team members. I would like to give my gratitude to Dr. Johan for assigning us this project and let us choose our own team members. For this project, it was breakdown to five different tasks, each task is given a certain period of time with a specific topic that is applied in the task.
First and foremost, my contribution in the project is mostly be the one who compile everything. As a person who have a slight Perfectionist in my blood, I can’t seem to stand with a little dirty in my report. Besides, I am also contributed in giving main ideas for most tasks. For instance, the floor plan for this project is based on my main ideas and expanded by team members. Other than that, I am also contributed in designing the system in terms of which network device is needed and most suitable. On the other hand, my team members contribution in the project is just as much as I contributed. Wan Luqman is always be the one to initiate for each task. He will always ask when to do meeting, when to start the task. He also gives out a lot of ideas to improve the existing idea. Also, he helps me a lot in doing a task that is in graphic presentation such as figures of devices. Furthermore, the last team member is Amir Najwan who is great at handling in a worst situation. He is the one who always finds a way out of a dead end. For the report of each task, he contributed a lot as he is a good writer. Although his contribution in ideas are less, those ideas are always the ones that made it to the final process.
As I mentioned earlier, I am grateful to have a team members by my own choice. This is because they are my close friends who have a similar brain creativity. Therefore, our works has always been no problem since the beginning. Sometimes, our progress flows like a water in a river without having to communicate as if our brain is connected. We have a meeting in an application called Discord where most gamers nowadays used to communicate while they gaming, thus we used it for our meeting. I love having a friend as team member because we don’t need to be strict in terms of meeting time. For example, I have always been busy at home because of housework, so my friends understand my situation and we had no problem meeting at midnight over 12 a.m. Me as a person who loves designing, creating a visual parts of the each has always been my lead, while my friend will fix bits of a mistake found in my work. I love working as a group with this group.
In general, working in a team or a group will always give us new knowledge in terms of patience, teamwork and communication. As for me, I learnt a lot working as a group for this project. I learnt that communication is and always has been the key to success for a team project. For instance, in the beginning of our progress, we didn’t have a lot communication as we thought we have always been great at proceeding the work without having to communicate, but it turns out bad and we as soon as we started asking each other’s opinion more, everything becomes crystal clear. Not only that, as a team member, I also learnt that being on a meeting is essential. I was once left behind a meeting and I am already lost a lot by it.
Every project is design to teach students about what the real-world situation would be. In this project alone, I learnt that a planning for project is a major aspect and it does help in the progression of a project despite having a difficulty in the middle of the progress. Moreover, from this project, I also learnt that a budget is a part of the entire project. For instance, many businesses have gone bankruptcy just by mistaking on the budget alone. I also learnt that in a project, we need to always ask for other team member’s opinion before getting to the next step.
In conclusion, I am once again wanted to give my thanks to Dr. Johan for giving us the experience of building a network system from scratch. If I ever have this chance again in the future, I might be doing better because of how much I have learnt in this project.
