MINI REPORT

Junior Camp was an annual activity of PMB to create the bonding between new intake juniors and seniors. Because of MCO, all of the students are unable to back to university to having physical class. With this, the new intake junior has limited chances to meet new friends and also seniors in the university. Therefore, PMB has organised an online event, Junior Camp 2021 during the MCO. This is a good opportunity for the new intake juniors to meet new friends and seniors on the online platform, Discord. There was some activity conducted in this event such as ice breaking session, station game, and sharing session of senior to junior.

During the event, I was very joyful and cheerful with enjoying in preparing the activities and bond with juniors. All of the seniors were happy to share their experience and lifestyle in university to the juniors. As the Emcee of the event, I have fully implemented my communication skills and critical thinking skills as I need to talk and communicate with the participants within the whole program and also I need to have the critical thinking when I face some emergency scenario. This was my second time to be an Emcee of an event. Thus, I had some experience from the previous event and implemented it in this Junior Camp. Also, I had gain more experience of become an Emcee from this event and hopefully can implement it in my next event.

WINTER SOLSTICE 2019

MINI REPORT

Winter Solstice is an annual traditional celebration for the Chinese whereby family members will gather and have our reunion. However, the Winter Solstice is during the academic week and weekdays this year. Most of the students unable to return to their hometown to getting reunion with their family. Hence, Persatuan Mahasiswa Buddha (PMB) had organized a winter solstice event at the Kolej Kediaman Siswa Jaya (KSJ) cafeteria to let all Chinese students celebrate it together and not miss this important tradition event. There were around 60 participants who had joined the event. No fees were charged to the students. During this event, all Chinese and non-Chinese students were invited to make the sweet dumplings (Tang Yuan) together and cook them. After that, all of the students eat the Tang Yuan together which means Tuan Yuan (reunion) in our Chinese traditional mind.

I think this was a meaningful and memorable event for all of us to celebrate the Winter Solstice in university together. By joining this event, I felt that I get full of love such as in my own house and this will decrease my homesick during this event in the hostel. Also, this event had improved my communication skills and team work. In addition, the relationships between all of us has been improved as we need to prepare the sweet dumplings together during this event and this gives us the chance to deepen our bonds.

EXCEL ACTIVITY 1 :

VISIT TO PESTA TANGLUNG UKM

MINI REPORT

Pesta Tanglung, also known as Mid Autumn Festival, is a harvest festival celebrated notably by the Chinese. Making and sharing mooncakes is one of the hallmark traditions of this festival. Besides, lantern is also one of the hallmark traditions of this festival.  During this festival, people will return to their homes to reunite and worship their ancestors. Thus, Sekretariat Pesta Tanglung UKM organized a program celebration of the Mid Autumn Festival. Member of PMB UTMKL was invited to attend the opening ceremony of the launching ceremony of Pesta Tanglung UKM-40. A variety of stunning performances and the launching of sky lanterns were truly awesome and impressive.

I felt cheerful and appreciate to represent the PMB UTMKL to join and visit the event organized by another university. By joining this event, I realised that having a good relationship between the society of other university is very important. All societies will help and support each other when other universities organize events. Besides, we also can improve our soft skills such as communication skills, leadership skills, team work and the others. In addition, by visiting the event organized by other universities we also can learn the weakness and strength from their flow to improve in our own event. Also, I felt very happy to meet new friends in this event such as committee members of Pesta Tanglung UKM.

Industrial Training has given me an excellent opportunity to learn and gain experience and knowledge at the actual workplace and prepare before working in the industry after graduation. During this internship program, I got to apply many theories and knowledge that I have learned from lecturer and studies in UTM. This application of theories studied to the related field is essential to improve my understanding. Also, I have learned and improved my knowledge that not related to my field. Thus, as a student, I grab these opportunities to learn and develop myself as much as possible from TBM Technology Sdn Bhd during my three-month internship program.

From this real-world working environment, I have gained a lot of professional knowledge, experience and skills. Apart from the professional knowledge, on the side of soft skills, I have improved my communication skills. This is because I have to communicate with the other contractor or customer to deliver the correct information and opinion.  Moreover, I have improved my critical thinking skills as I need to design and solve the engineering problem given by the company. In addition, I have the multitasking skills as I need to done several jobs that given from different department.

In addition, I could know my strengths and weakness. One of my strengths is I willing to learn new things. In my internship period, there are some work that I never learn before and don’t have any related knowledge on that field. However, I willing to learn the new things which not related to my field and I never touch before. Now, I am able to do the work that I never learn before individually and done it in time. Besides that, I could adapt the new challenge as well. Although there is some work that I don’t have any related knowledge and it is hard for me to do, but I could learn and done the work in time. Apart from that, during internship program I could recognize my weakness. One of my weakness is I am too stubborn on one thing. When I couldn’t solve a problem, I will struggle with the problem until it finds a solution. This will make the working process become slow and cannot done the work in time.

In a nutshell, the main objective of the Industrial Training program has been successfully achieved. With that, I would like to thank UTM and TBM Technology Sdn Bhd for giving me this precious opportunity to done my internship program.
