MINI REPORT

ASTRA 2.0 was a fundraising concert primarily dedicated to supporting chronic patients, the UTM endowment fund, PMH Dana, and providing financial assistance to students. This program aimed to inspire students and create an evening of music and compassion as we came together to raise funds and offer much-needed support to these individuals on their challenging journey.

The program was organized by Persatuan Mahasiswa Hindu (PMH) and took place at Dewan Sultan Iskandar on Saturday, June 3rd, 2023. ASTRA'23 was a charity-based concert featuring renowned local artists and young talents from UTM. The participating celebrities included KJ Iyenar, an international rapper; Darkey, a singer and dancer from the local artist community; Balan Kashmir, a famous Malaysian artist; Shameshan Manimaran, a Malaysian musician and composer, among others.

I was recruited into the protocol crew along with five others. It was my first time working in the protocol department, and I was grateful for the opportunity because it allowed me to learn new skills and gain valuable experiences during the program's preparation.

SELF REFLECTION

Throughout the preparation of the program, I gained ample experience as part of the protocol crew. However, this also came with a lot of challenges. The head of the department was handling two programs simultaneously, resulting in a lack of information due to the manager and HOD not providing updates to the group. Thankfully, the Vice Director assigned to our department was able to communicate with me regarding updates and tasks.

Since the two departments were merged, there were several instances of confusion regarding the assigned tasks. Despite these challenges, being part of the crew helped me develop various skills, such as creating a proper running order, drafting an emcee script, and outlining the program's tentative schedule. As a first-timer, I had to put in extra effort to find effective solutions that ensured a smooth flow.

Moreover, my communication skills improved throughout the preparation, especially during rehearsals and while working on the emcee script. I learned to speak clearly and explain instructions and opinions precisely, considering that different individuals have distinct perspectives.

Lastly, despite the obstacles faced, the program was a resounding success. Through this experience, I have gained valuable skills in the protocol department and look forward to pursuing further opportunities in this field. I intend to apply the knowledge and experiences I gained during this program to future endeavors.
