Reflection
This activity brings advantages especially in developing students’ graduate attributes. Thinking skills could be improved effectively after participating in this activity as I have to think about what to invest in the future and what problem I will be faced with as well as what is the ideal strategy to solve the particular problem. Firstly, I understand that a mature investor must understand the investing objective and having a risk appetite. Then, the investor must be able to invest time horizon of a particular product or company. These are what I get after joining this activity. I believe that other graduate attributes like communication skills, global citizens, enterprising skills could also be developed in the process of investing.
I am a good listener and I am able to focus on the main point of the talk. Financial talk is crucial for every student since we have the opportunity to invest in something in the future or even at this moment. Moreover, the speaker of the talk is like our mentor to assist us in investing stuff and prevent us from getting into big issues. Therefore, I have to really pay attention and get to the main point of the talk. A good listener is able to listen attentively to the speaker and utilize what the speaker said into real life.
The challenges I faced when joining this activity is lack of knowledge in financial investment. I was facing problems when the speaker mentioned about the shares of investing, the stock evaluation, cash flow statement and the financial report. I am a computer science student and I was confused when the speakers shared the financial terminologies. However, I understand these after listening to the talk with my heart. I am planning to listen to more financial talks and buy some related investing books to read so that I can gain more knowledge and master my investing skills.
