(SECJH) Network Communications

Task 6b and 6c

This project is a group project with an individual review. Its objective is to bring forth what you have learned in class into how it is in the real world. Students will be tasked with building a small network with all its appropriate components.

Task 6C - 2-Minutes Reflection Video

6B individual report

Network communication, or internetworking, defines a set of protocols (that is, rules and standards) that allow application programs to talk with each other without regard to the hardware and operating systems where they are run. Internetworking allows application programs to communicate independently of their physical network connections. The goal of this course is to provide a foundational view of communication networks: the principles upon which the Internet and other computer networks are built; how those principles translate into deployed protocols; and hands-on experience solving challenging problems with network protocols. Through this course, I gained various knowledge on the mentioned as well as the skills obtained from the project.

Throughout the project's progress, I have made significant contributions to completing tasks in a timely and accurate manner as specified in the requirements. The first task for this course is to form a group. Then we began to discuss the task's topic, which is floor planning. In this section, I provided some preliminary planning for the building layout by referring to specific places. Following that, in task 2, I contribute to the project's feasibility studies. Furthermore, I assist in the development of 15 questions to ask the user or to research (the Internet, white papers, journals, etc.) on the needs and other information required to design a network plan based on the case study. The project then moves on to task 3: selecting the devices to be utilized in the building. As a result, in this section, I investigate and do research on the LAN devices that are required for the development of a lab compound. After that, we create a network connectivity diagram for the entire building. I was in charge of network distribution for all of the building's work areas. Nonetheless, I did not put out as much work in job 5 because I have certain issues to resolve as the project progresses. Nonetheless, I was able to participate in the team's discussion before they began working on the tasks, and I double-checked the paper before submitting it. Finally, in task 6, I assist in compiling task solutions and completing team members and responsibilities.

Despite the fact that we are now living and learning in a new norm, group work is still group work. Many meetings and discussions were held in order to realizeĀ the vision in the tasks completed. As a result, I am grateful and consider myself fortunate to be a part of a really supportive group with interesting individuals. We couldn't hold a physical meeting since we are in the midst of a global epidemic, and the majority of my team members live in various countries. As a result, it was impossible to manageĀ and set an exact time for the meeting. I'd want to thank everyone on my team who gave up their time for the meeting. Before each task, we had a meeting in which one person explained the task's objectives to the other members. Later, we divide the work and set a deadline to complete it. My teammates did their best and finished all the tasks ahead of the deadline. Furthermore, we tried to assist one another in completing the task. They successfully contribute their efforts on given tasks as mentioned in the team members and responsibilities and are able to commit to every task even if there are certain unforeseen situations while still following up on the final output for current progress.

For me, this project is very good for all students in the computer science field. From this project, I learned how to work efficiently as a group to accomplish a specific objective. Teamwork taught me essential communication and social skills, such as active listening and effective speaking. When working as a team, I learned how to listen to our group leader in order to perform my individual roles. I also learned how to listen to one another in order to function as a cohesive unit. Through the project, I learned time management, how to divide the time for each task, and come up with a final output.

Finally, it is anticipated that this type of project would be continued to other students in the following semester because it involves many key components in networking with certain architectural features such as floor layout. The deliverables are really good in terms of providing students with excellent minds and fantastic ideas once they work on the project.
