PROJECT 2 - Probability & Statistical Data Analysis (PSDA)

This section contains the project profile and my reflection towards this individual project.

Project Profile

Inferential statistic is the focus of my second project for Probability and Statistical Data Analysis. The topic I chose was the use of social media, specifically social networking, in our home country of Malaysia in 2019. One of the most engaging communication channels on the Internet is social networking sites. With the discovery of Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, Blog, and others, social media development has taken over Malaysia's online population. Since the advent of social media such as social networking sites in Malaysia, this site has attracted millions of users who use it on a daily basis.

The secondary data for this statistical analysis project was obtained from "statcounter GlobalStats," with a sample size of 1.7219 billion and a population size of 3.48 billion. From January to December, it was represented by a percentage of social networking usage that included Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest, YouTube, Tumblr, VKontakte, Reddit, LinkedIn, Google+, and others. I used hypothesis testing for one sample, Pearson's product moment correlation, regression, and analysis of variance, also known as ANOVA. As a result, this quantitative study aims to see trends in social networking usage within a year.

Reflection

I would like to share my valuable experience from working on this second project for Probability and Statistical Data Analysis (PSDA). Completing this project is a difficult process for me because we must once again learn how to write code in R studio. Because this course decided not to have a final online examination, this second project serves as a replacement task for the final.

I desired to gain knowledge in the design of experiments, data collection and analysis, interpretation of results, and drawing of conclusions, and I am pleased to report that my learning objectives for this course were met. I now have a firm grasp on statistical applications. I understand how to gather, organize, and describe data. In this regard, I have acquired the necessary sampling techniques skills. I am able to analyze data from a sample and then draw conclusions about the entire population using statistical probabilities and hypothesis testing. I'm able to determine a relationship between two sets of data, identify dependent and independent variables, and determine the type of relationship that exists between them through this project.

I would like to possess advanced statistics skills that will allow me to handle and analyze large and complex research problems. In this case, the knowledge I already have will give me an advantage. As a result, accomplished this project has provided me with a clear understanding of the role of statistics in everyday life.
