Mini Report

FYWC (First Year Welcoming Camp) is a much-anticipated event hosted by Persatuan Mahasiswa Hindu UTM (PMH) for first-year Indian students. The major goal of this camp is to give assistance and support to newcomers, assisting them in navigating the university campus. Seniors actively take on the role of mentors during FYWC, introducing themselves and forming close bonds with the juniors. This campaign seeks to break down seniority preconceptions and eliminate any instances of bullying that may occur. The camp encourages children to actively participate and engage with one another by creating a friendly and inclusive atmosphere. FYWC offers as a good chance for PMH to explain its society and the different activities it organizes throughout the year, in addition to familiarizing first-year students with the institution. As proof of FYWC's influence, I actively participated in this event as a crew member for two years in a row. In my first year, I had the honor of serving as an emcee. In my second year, I joined the activity department, where I was able to help create and execute interesting and memorable activities for the participants. FYWC shows PMH's dedication to the overall development of Indian students, welcoming them to university life and setting the road for deep interactions and lasting connections.

Self Reflection

Participating in the special task department as a crew member during FYWC (First Year Welcoming Camp) presented me with excellent opportunity to develop and improve a variety of talents and attributes. One important feature was the tremendous improvement in my communication abilities. I was in charge of selling bouquets and brownies as part of a fundraising drive during the UTM convocation. This entailed contacting with parents and graduates, conversing with them, and effectively communicating the goal of our fundraising activities. These experiences helped me refine my abilities to convey ideas, connect with various people, and speak convincingly. My thinking abilities were also sharpened when I worked with other crew members to construct a treasure hunt exercise. We had to plan the trip intelligently, create clues, and anticipate possible problems. This required critical thinking, problem-solving, and adaptability as we altered the game in real-time based on the comments and progress of the participants. It was a beneficial practise that encouraged creativity, logical reasoning, and the capacity to evaluate events from many angles. Furthermore, the post gave several opportunity for me to further develop my leadership and collaboration abilities. I not only bonded with the juniors throughout the exercise, but I also took on the role of guiding and directing them during the treasure search. This need strong leadership, the capacity to assign responsibilities, and the creation of a collaborative atmosphere. I learnt to listen to others' views, motivate the team, and make decisions that were in line with our common objectives. Furthermore, working in the FYWC special task department exposed me to a variety of scenarios that required adaptation. As a staff member, I had to swiftly adapt to various responsibilities, such as selling things and organising activities, depending on the demands of the event. This adaptability enabled me to thrive in different contexts and adjust my approach to changing conditions. Finally, my participation in FYWC developed my entrepreneurial abilities. Engaging with new people, both parents and other participants, allowed me to cultivate a proactive mentality and grab possibilities for meaningful connections. I learned to start discussions, actively listen, and make connections that extended beyond the event's immediate setting.

Overall, my participation at FYWC presented me with a comprehensive learning experience. It improved my communication, thinking, leadership, and teamwork abilities while also encouraging adaptation and an entrepreneurial approach. These priceless insights will surely help to my personal and professional development, allowing me to thrive in a variety of contexts and contribute meaningfully to teams and organisations.
