Self-Reflection
Impact of the activities on the development of the students’ Graduate Attributes
In this project, I developed multiple graduate attributes. One of them is Leadership and teamworking skills, as an Assistant Director in the project, it is a new challenge for me to lead the team members and volunteers. I learnt how to make an effective virtual meeting, improve the momentum of the team and also communicate in a way that is efficient and clear. Those are the learning that I get after I met with problems and difficulties in this project. Other than that, I also developed Adaptability as I was working with new members and new faces in the virtual environment, and I also learnt to innovate our project in this virtual environment in this COVID-19 Pandemic, I learnt to adapt myself when there is huge changes coming into our way and I learnt that changes is not always bad and it is a test for us and makes us stronger after we fall. Lastly, I developed Thinking Skills, I learnt to react to problems objectively and developed a solution oriented mindset when we are dealing with problems and difficulties. I also frequently reflect on myself on my leading style and skills to empower and lead a small team to make my team more productive and happy.
Self strength/advantage towards the activities
In this project, I can utilize my strength where I am a detailed-oriented person where i take every details as an important things to handle because every tasks and opinion that my team members are giving out might mirroring their situation and state during the project duration. I also cross check and make sure all of the documents and activities are handled in a smooth and steady way, we make a dry-run before every session happening and truly minimize the risk of uncertainties happening in the project.
Challenges and how to overcome
One of the challenges that I face is actually the people management problem in the team, In the Assistant Director position , I am exposed to member's development and member's time-to-time situation, I am responsible to take care everyone's well-being to be able to consistently contribute and enjoy the over-whelming project despite having to switching role between an assistant director and a student. The same goes to the members, they are also having a tough time balancing their academic and in our project. I faces the difficulties that everyone is overloaded and the burnt-out test on our team is quite high. I consulted the Vice President of People Management Department and get insights from the experienced leaders in our organization. I solved it by doing a focused session to really understand their pain point and help them and give suggestion to each of their problems.
