Mini Report

Winter Solstice is an annual traditional celebration for the Chinese whereby family members will gather and have our union. However, the Winter Solstice is during the academic week and weekdays this year. Most of the students cannot return to their hometown to celebrate if they are not from the nearby city. Thus, Persatuan Mahasiswa Buddha organized a winter solstice event at the Kolej Kediaman Siswa Jaya (KSJ) cafeteria to let all Chinese students celebrate it together by doing some hands on to preparing the sweet dumpling while in the meantime having some conversation like a family member and not miss this important tradition in the year. There are not any fees were charged to the students, and PMB will supported the fund in the event. During the event, we invited all Chinese and non-Chinese students to make the sweet dumplings (Tang Yuan) together and cook them so for the others also could know our culture better. There were around 60 participants has joined the event. I involved this event as a participant, and it was so meaningful to me as it let me celebrate this important culture first time away from home with a gang of friends and having some good conversation.
