Report
CGMA Interactive Day 2019 (CID '19) is a bonding program between the first year students from Computer Science (Graphics and Multimedia Software). It was conducted by 2SCSV students to help the first year students fostering a closer relationship among each other. I had joined this program since I am SECV first year student.
The Graduate Attributes that are focused on are leadership and teamworking skills since this program requires all of the participants have the ability to establish rapport, interact and work effectively with others to accomplish common objectives. Besides, adaptability is focused on to make first year students to adapt the new culture and study environment. Furthermore, global citizen is also focused on for first year students to act ethically in making decisions and interacting with the community.
CID '19 is very interesting because we had participated many fun activities in this program such as 'kayak', building a bridge using a pack of straws and drawing their team logo on a mahjong paper. I felt very enjoyed since it was my first time to take part in such activities, especially 'kayak'. I wished to participate again but there is no chance for me again since it is held for first year students only.
Reflection
For self-reflection in this program, the impact of this activity on the development of the students’ Graduate Attributes is developing leadership and teamworking skills. Before this program starts, the first year students were divided into a few groups, so it can train leaders to lead a group and influence team members having perfect teamwork to complete the given tasks during all of the activities. Besides, we can interact with our seniors and lecturers for adapting to the new communities and study environment in the university. Furthermore, we can become a global citizen since we had knew more about each other and understood the impact of socio-cultural in the community.
From this activity, I have learnt how to give cooperation and commitment to my team members. We have discussed among each other so we can strive together to compete against other team and be the best team among others. I have also learnt how to 'kayak' with my friends and it is a valuable and memorable experience for me forever.
The challenge for this activity is it is difficult to start to communicate and interact with each other, but luckily we are guided by the 2SCSV students to carry out ice breaking activity. It is really helpful for us to know each other and cooperate well in the activities.
