Course Probability & Statistical Data Analysis SECI2143-06

This page contains my thoughts on the course Probability & Statistical Data Analysis for Semester 2 of my First Year Degree.

Reflection for the Course

In this course, I have learned many new topics like Hypothesis Testing with 1 Sample and 2 Samples, Correlation Analysis, Linear Regression Model and such. I was also able to revise on the knowledge that I previous taught in foundation about graphs and other basic statistical related knowledge. I also learned another new programming language and that is R-programming. This is helpful for my future as it is another soft skill I can work on to further increase my value in my job search process. I hope that I can make use of the knowledge I gained in this course to further improve myself and broaden my horizon.

For the lecturer teaching me this subject, Dr. Aryati Bakri, I do think that her teaching is fine as I can understand what is needed to be delivered in the lectures. She does constantly give out exercises but I do think it's necessary to allow us students to understand the lectures even more in depth. She does also support her students by providing a bit of help to guide them in completing certain assessments. I hope I can meet her expectations for this course.

Reflection for Project

In Project 1, I learned how to collect data from a population. The use of a survey is suitable to collect sufficient data in a short amount of time by promoting it enough. The questions in the survey is also crucial in data collection as I need to understand what data is need to achieve my group's objective. I also have to study the data to identify it is either a qualitative variable or quantitative variable. I also have to categorize the data into nominal, ordinal, interval and ratio level of measurement to analyze the data more efficiently. Thus, I do think project 1 is a good way to build a foundation to progress my understanding in the course Probability and Statistical Data Analysis.

In Project 2, I learned how to relate data variables, how to determine the characteristic of a relationship between data variables and how to present the data using graphs such as the normal distribution graph, linear graphs and many more. The project require us to make use of Correlation Analysis, Linear Regression Model, and many more topics that is useful in analyzing data. By utilizing the knowledge learned throughout the course, I managed to work together with my group to complete project 2. I was also able to fully utilize R-programming to complete my part of the project. In my opinion, project 2 is a good way to test the students knowledge on what they have learned in the course Probability and Statistical Data Analysis.
