Mini Report

The Cybersecurity Workshop, conducted during CompFair'24 on November 16, 2023, proved to be a captivating event aimed at enlightening students from the Faculty of Computing (FC) about the intricacies of cybersecurity in today's world. Led by Ms. Nurshahira binti Mohd, a Darknet Analyst from Cyber Security Malaysia (CSM), the workshop delved into the practical application of cybersecurity measures and underscored CSM's vital role in safeguarding Malaysia's network system.

Ms. Nurshahira shared valuable insights on the real-world implementation of cybersecurity, showcasing how Cyber Security Malaysia actively defends the country's network systems against cyber threats and hackers. Participants gained hands-on experience with CSM's cybersecurity measures and strategies. The section that provided a thorough introduction to the Dark Web was very interesting. The concept was explained by Ms. Nurshahira, who also covered its setup, nature, and several access methods. The workshop also explored the crucial link between cybersecurity and the evolution of smart cities in Malaysia. Self Reflection

Participating in the Cybersecurity Workshop at CompFair'24 on November 16, 2023, led by Ms. Nurshahira binti Mohd, was not only super interesting but also an eye-opener about the importance of personal security in our digital world. The workshop went beyond teaching practical ways to defend against hackers and cyber threats, delving into the mysteries of the Dark Web and its relevance to the cybersecurity of smart cities in Malaysia.

One key takeaway from the workshop was the realization that personal security is not solely the responsibility of organizations or cybersecurity experts. The discussions emphasized the need for individuals to actively engage in securing their online presence, recognizing potential risks, and adopting best practices to safeguard personal information. Ms. Nurshahira's expertise highlighted the dynamic nature of cyber threats, stressing the importance of being flexible in our approach to security. This adaptability is crucial, not only in reacting to specific threats but also in proactively adjusting security practices to stay ahead of evolving risks.

Looking back, the workshop served as a wake-up call for personal security awareness. It prompted me to reevaluate my own online practices and take proactive steps to enhance my digital security. The excitement of learning practical defense strategies and understanding the mysteries of the Dark Web was paired with a deepened awareness of the personal responsibility we all bear in keeping our digital world safe. As I move forward, I am committed to staying updated on cybersecurity, gaining hands-on experience, and playing an active role in securing our digital space for everyone's benefit. It's not just about understanding the tech stuff; it's about contributing to a safer digital environment through continuous learning and adaptability.
