Self-Reflection

Galeria PPI UTM Vol. 01 gave me a lot of space to grow and explore many things, both in terms of communication skills, thinking skills, as well as leadership and team-working skills. I as the Editor in Chief need to carefully conceptualize this program before it is held, this really trains my thinking skills. Then when the program was running, it turned out that there were many challenges regarding communication with the contributors, so there I also made various efforts to overcome the problem by using communication skills. For example, asking for advice from the steering committee and then distributing the directions in a kind way to contributors. Then regarding leadership skills, I also had the opportunity to lead the publication process of Galeria PPI UTM Vol. 01 by distributing tasks to several team members, such as layouting, making covers and so on. Galeria PPI UTM Vol. 01 is really a valuable experience that has taught me a lot of life lessons.

The advantages of this program are also very visible, here are the details:

  1. UTM students can develop their potential in the field of literary writing.
  2. UTM students have self-understanding of their abilities, interests and talents to support their future careers.
  3. UTM students gain experience and relationships that support their potential.

However, this program also has some struggles, as follows:

  1. The insufficient number of committees in charge of this program causes the ongoing program process to be hampered
  2. The difference between the estimated expenditure and the original expenditure was quite large because the committee had no experience printing books in Malaysia
  3. Financial affairs must coordinate with the new organizational management considering that the printing of new books was completed the day before the demisioner, so that the Accountability Report was delayed

Which can be handled in the following ways:

  1. The person in charge for this program needs to be added and detailed, especially in the part of the book compilation team
  2. Field surveys related to prices should be carried out so that financial matters become more organized
  3. The arranged deadlines need to be emphasized more so that there are no more delays in the running of the program

Mini Report

Galeria PPI UTM is a new breakthrough work program from the Education and Human Resource Development Department of ISS-Indonesia 2019/2020. This series of programs begins with a literary writing competition with a direct collection system to the committee's official email. Then the assessment was carried out professionally by 3 judges who were competent in their fields, namely Bella Nisa, M.Pd., Sadriana Ayu, S.Pd and Asa Ismia Bunga Aisyahrani. Not only a competition, the collected literary works and written works are then published as a book with the title "Metafora Rasa" which has been legalized by the National Library of the Republic of Indonesia as a printed media as well as online media (printed book and e-book).

This program also collaborated with the Research and Strategic Studies Department of ISS-Indonesia 2019/2020, which has succeeded in bringing together a total of 31 authors with a total of 40 works resulting in a book with a total of 330 pages excluding the cover. With great enthusiasm, this creation can be distributed to UTM International, Sultanah Zanariah Library, Raja Zarith Sofiah Library and also ISS-Indonesia Supervisors in the form of printed book so that the book can be read as well as keepsake. The e-book can also be read by the entire ISS-Indonesia family through ISS-Indonesia official website.

Graduate success attributes that were highly encouraged in this program include communication skills, thinking skills, leadership and team-working skills. Considering the amount of communication that exists between the committee and participants, then the assessment process to the publication process, as well as leadership and teamwork that must be highly regulated for the success of the program.
