Mini Report

a. Justification in Joining the Activities: I joined the Newbies Camp 2021 to gain insights into the field of computer science and to connect with fellow students. As a first-year student, I wanted to get a head start on understanding the programs offered by the School of Computing and to adapt to the challenges of online and distance learning.

b. The Graduate Attributes that are Focused On: The program emphasized communication skills through interactions with peers and senior students. It also promoted leadership and teamworking skills by facilitating networking and collaboration among students. Scholarship was encouraged through knowledge-sharing sessions about different computing programs. Additionally, the camp enhanced adaptability by preparing us for online learning.

c. Content of the Activities: The Newbies Camp 2021 featured a diverse range of activities. The opening ceremony, with speeches by Prof. Wan Mohd Nasir and Dr. Muhammad Iqbal Tariq, set the tone for the event. Breakout sessions tailored to specific courses provided in-depth insights into Bioinformatics, Software Engineering, Data Engineering, Networks and Security, and Graphics and Multimedia. Information sharing by Dr. Suhaila and a session on coping with online learning by Dr. Nurbiha were highly informative. Prof. Ts. Dr. Dayang Norhayati's closing speech marked the successful conclusion of the event.
