I attended CompFair'23 as a participant, actively engaging in various seminars, webinars, workshops, and competitions organized by PERSAKA.

Mini Report

a. Justification in Joining the Activities: I participated in CompFair'23 to gain exposure to potential job skills and to enhance my career prospects. As a computing student, this event provided valuable insights into various job scopes in the field. Additionally, it was a unique opportunity to engage in face-to-face activities, which had been limited due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

b. The Graduate Attributes that are Focused On: CompFair'23 emphasized communication skills through seminars and networking opportunities with guest speakers and companies. It fostered leadership and teamworking skills through participation in competitions and team-based activities. Scholarship was encouraged through knowledge-sharing sessions in the form of webinars and workshops, and adaptability was enhanced by exposing students to a range of career options.

c. Content of the Activities: The event spanned five days and featured a diverse range of activities. The Resume Workshop on the first day, conducted by Dr. Suhaila Binti Mohamad Yusuf, helped students create professional resumes. The opening ceremony officiated by Prof. Ts. Dr. Wan Mohd Nasir bin Wan Kadir marked the start of the event. A Career Fair allowed companies like Icore Technology Sdn. Bhd., Bintara Solutions Sdn. Bhd., and others to brief students about their organizations.

Webinars on Data Science, Bioinformatics, and Cybersecurity, led by Dr. Mohamad Shukor Bin Talib, Dr. Nies Hui Wen, and Ts. Dr. Siti Hajar Binti Othman respectively, provided insights into these fields. Competitions, including Coding Detector, Fast Fingers, and T-Shirt Design, were held, encouraging teamwork and innovation.

An Artificial Intelligence Forum with panels Assoc Prof. Dr. Siti Zaiton Mohd Hashim and Ts. Dr. Johanna Binti Ahmad addressed AI's role in improving work efficiency. The event concluded with a closing ceremony officiated by Prof. Ts. Dr. Dayang Norhayati Abang Jawawi, followed by a prize-giving ceremony for competition winners.

Self-Reflection

a. Impact of the Activities on the Development of Graduate Attributes: CompFair'23 significantly contributed to my development of graduate attributes. It improved my communication skills through networking with professionals and peers. The competitions and team activities enhanced my leadership and teamworking abilities. Scholarship was fostered through the informative webinars and workshops, and adaptability was strengthened by exposing me to diverse job scopes within computing.

b. Self-Strength/Advantage Towards the Activities: My prior experience in coding and design gave me an advantage in the competitions. Additionally, I was adaptable to the face-to-face format of the event and effectively engaged with the content.

c. Challenges and How to Overcome: Managing time between attending various activities and competitions was challenging. To overcome this, I planned my schedule in advance and prioritized sessions that aligned with my interests and career goals.

In summary, CompFair'23 was an enriching experience that provided valuable insights into potential career paths within computing. It played a crucial role in developing my graduate attributes and allowed me to network with professionals in the field. I am grateful to PERSAKA and the organizers for creating this impactful event, which attracted over 500 participants and helped bridge the gap caused by the pandemic.
