Reflection
I, Abraham Loh Tze Lung from UHIS1022-77, have completed the Philosophy and Current Issues course in Semester 1 at UTM and the lecturer is Dr. Mohd Farhan Md Ariffin. I am quite satisfied with the lectures conducted online along with the Powerpoint Slides which contain colorful and easy-to-understand notes. In this course, I as a first year UTM student have gained various knowledge about the history of philosophy, the application of philosophy in current issues. Various aspects have been discussed and linked to philosophies such as politics, economics and social issues in current issues. I also know that there are many different traditions and cultures as well as philosophies originating in their respective countries. During the lectures, question quiz were also held with fun using the Kahoot and Quizzes Web. This activity can test your understanding and competence. The quiz provided is easy to understand and easy to answer. I am quite satisfied with this way of learning. The history of the development of philosophy on different continents is also discussed in this course carefully. I was also introduced to philosophers and figures of the past and their understanding and philosophy that are still relevant today. I was also introduced to the Malaysian Philosophy of Education (FPN) and the National Philosophy of Education (FPK) and its importance. At the end of this course, I was also assigned to conduct a study on current issues entitled "Depression in the community" based on group assignments. I gained various benefits and learned a lot of knowledge from this assignment. Apart from that, we are also tasked with producing sexually themed posters. I realize that there are various walks of life made up of individuals with a variety of different thoughts and ideologies. I am quite respectful and will appreciate the philosophies of today. I have come to understand the definition of philosophy more deeply after this course in Universe 1. I hope that a civil and ethical society can exist with philosophy. Philosophy is undeniably very important and still relevant in various aspects and is able to positively influence the thinking of society.
