AWS Academy Cloud Foundations

The Journey

The Journey of obtaining the AWS badge started on the 19th of November 2021 when I had accepted the invitation from AWS. In the beginning, I had very little knowledge about cloud computing due to the industry talk 3 about cloud computing which was held a few days before the invitation. However, when I started, I was overwhelmed on how much knowledge I was presented through each section of the videos. I was too overwhelmed that I was not able to have time to jolt down most of the important notes, only to realize that the notes are given at the second last of each module.

From the first module alone, I have learned many things ranging from the Cloud service models which consist of the IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service), PaaS (Platform as a Service) and SaaS (Software as a Service) to the Cloud Adaptation Framework. For the end of each module, there will be a knowledge check which as the name suggests, will test whether or not we understand or gain something new from the modules. For the first module, I managed to get 100 points at the very first try. However, this is just the beginning as even more challenging modules awaits me.

As I progress through each module, I grew even more interested about the AWS and the cloud computing. It was pretty much the same progress through out module 1 to 3 but when I had reached module 4, I had encountered my first Lab which was about the introduction to the AWS IAM which allows management of access to AWS resources. This was definitely an interesting experience as I was able to manually interact with the AWS IAM.

Completing all of the AWS modules were definitely not that easy as I had to juggle between the normal lectures, assignments, projects and of course with the AWS. However, I was able to persevere and complete all 10 modules and obtained the AWS badge on the 21st of January 2022. This marks the end of the journey but also the beginning of a new me who knows a lot how cloud computing works in general. Below is my AWS Badge:

Reflection

From this AWS Academy Cloud Foundation course, I have gained a lot of valuable insights or knowledge about the cloud computing in general and the services provided by the AWS such as the Amazon EC2, AWS Trusted Advisor and Amazon VPC. My motivation to complete this is due to the existence of the Labs which instead of just listening and writing down notes, I am able to have a hands-on experience on the services provided. I initially thought that getting this badge was probably going to be difficult. However, after going through everything, it was not that too bad but needless to say that the module 6 was probably the hardest module for me due to a lot of things that I have to keep up with. Since I have learnt a lot about cloud computing, I know that cloud computing can help big companies as it is flexible based on the demand. Since bigger companies will use cloud computing, I definitely think that every students need to learn about it or get the AWS Badge and of course, I would recommend it to my friends who did not obtained the badge yet.
