Based on the Inaugural Speech by Prof Ts Dr. Rose Aslinda, please discuss the following questions:

1.Explain the 4 types of communication techniques?

- Verbal Communication

This type of communication technique can be defined as words used in a conversation, that is categorized into oral                  communication and written communication.

 

- Written Communication

The definition of written communication is the skills that are necessary to get our point across in writing. Furthermore, this technique relies on punctuation, grammar as well as word choice. It requires practice and fine attention to detail.

 

- Non-Verbal Communication

Non-verbal communication can be defined as information transfer through the use of body language, including facial expressions, tone and pitch of voice, space and eye contact.

 

- Visual Communication

Visual communication is the act of using visuals as aid during presentations to enhance verbal context and/or written communication.

 

2. How you can be a good communicator?

The ways to be a good communicator are conveying the message thoroughly and is receptive and responsive to others’ opinion and speaks in a direct manner, clear as well as using easily understood language. Furthermore, we need to avoid filler words and teen slang when communicating with someone else. Also, we need to be concise such as include only the necessary details to convey your point. Next, we must use active voice instead of passive voice when applying written communication techniques. Maintaining eye contact and use facial expressions are vital in non-verbal communication. Ensuring the visuals clear and easy to understand in visual communication is also important. Last but not least, we need to give appropriate responses that are honest but polite in order to be a good communicator.

 

3. What are the barriers to be a good communicator?
