1. Explain the 4 types of communication techniques?
a) Verbal Communication
Definition :
- Words used in a conversation, categorized into Oral Communication and Written Communication.
b) Written Communication
Definition :
- Written Communication skills are those necessary to get our point across in writing.
- Written Communication relies on grammar, punctuation and word choice. Developing written communication skills requires practice and fine attention to detail.
c) Nonverbal Communication
Definition :
- Transfer the information through the use of body language, including eye contact, facial expressions, gestures, tone and pitch of voice, body movement, posture, and space.
d) Visual Communication
Definition :
- The act of using visuals as aid during presentations to enhance context of verbal and/or written communication.
e) Interpersonal Communication
Definition :
- Process of entire process of exchanging information, ideas, and feelings between two or more people through verbal and non-verbal methods.
2.How you can be a good communicator?
- Understanding the emotion and intentions behind the information.
- Being able to convey a message.
- Able to also listen in a way that gains the full meaning of what’s being said and makes the other person feels heard and understood.
- Conveys their message thoroughly and is receptive and responsive to other’s input.
- Speaks in clear, direct manner, using easily understood language.
3.What are the barriers to be a good communicator?
- Physical barriers
- Perceptual barriers
- Emotional barriers
- Cultural barriers
- Language barriers
- Gender barriers
- Religious barriers.
- Interpersonal barriers. Consisting :
- Withdrawal : Withdrawal is an absence of interpersonal contact. It is both refusal to be in touch and time alone.
- Rituals : Rituals are meaningless, repetitive routine devoid of real contact.
- Pastimes : Pastimes fill up time with others in social but superficial activities.
- Working : Work activities follow the rules and procedures of contact but no more than that.
- Games : Games are subtle, manipulative interactions which are about winning and losing. They include “rackets” and “stamps”.
- Closeness : The purpose of interpersonal contact in closeness.
