MID-AUTUMN FESTIVAL NIGHT 2019
This program was an annual event organized by Mid-Autumn Club to celebrate the festival of the Mid-Autumn. The event was held on 28/9/2019 that last for one day at the "Tapak Tasik Ilmu". The organizer for this event, UTM Mid-Autumn Club is a UTM official culture club. In this event, I participate as a crew member at a selling store of the event to assist in the selling of product to the visitor of the event.
Mini Report:
In the event of Mid-Autumn Festival Night, I participate as a crew at the selling store that sell product such as handmade souvenir to the visitor of the store. There were around 10 store that available during the festival that sell different product such as souvenir, food and beverage, game and photography session. Throughout the activity, the graduate attribute, communication skill was emphasized due to communication was a crucial element in communication with the customer to increase the success of selling product to the customer. During selling souvenir to the customer, presentation of product to the customer required strong communication skill to persuade the customer to buy the mentioned souvenir. During the activity, by trying to understand the demand and desire of customer, I had help the store to earn approximation of 20-30% of extra total sell by providing appropriate services and appropriate souvenir that match the customer taste in souvenir.
Self-reflection :
Throughout the activity, I have learnt the selling technique to the customer to increase the success of selling a product to customer and indirectly culture my communication skill. While persuading the customer to buy the product, I learned that eye contact was crucial element in success communication with the customer. Meanwhile, I also learned that allowing customer to speak out their desired attributes of product such as favourite color rather than monopolizing the conversation will increase the probability of the customer get the most suitable souvenir or product for him or her. My own strength while participating this activity was I have several working experience as promoter that help me to promote the product to the customer. During the activity, I had faced a problem that the variation of the color of handmade souvenir was limited and hard to increase the spending desire of the customer. To solve this problem, I had increase my presentation method of the souvenir to present the advantage of various available color of souvenir such as color red represent the good fortune in the culture of Chinese and successfully attract the desire of the customer and eventually sell the souvenir to them.
