Industrial Visit On Tanjung Bin Power
Study visit framework and main objectives
This study tour was held in the framework of the subject "Introduction To Electrical Engineering" (SKEE1012-02), that is currently learn in this semester 1. In this subject, we learned all about electrical engineering.
We have been taken to visit one of the electric power generating station that using coal as an essential ingredient to the production of electrical energy that Tanjung Bin power plant. This station is a major contributor to the existing electricity resources in Malaysia now. Power stations located in Pontian, Johor has already become the largest power station in south east asia.
The objective of the Industrial Visit is to help students gain first hand information regarding functioning of the Industry which presents the students with opportunities to plan, organize and engage in active learning experiences both inside and outside the classroom.
Experiences :
In this industrial visit, i had learn more than what i expected before. The detailed investigations carried out on Tanjung Bin coal ash show that fly ash and bottom ash has good potential for use in construction industry, especially for geotechnical applications.
Its low specific gravity, freely draining nature, ease of compaction, good frictional properties, high shear strength and low compressibility can be gainfully exploited in the construction of embankments, roads, reclamation and fill behind retaining structures.
