ACTIVITY For this day activity is to finish tracing for all part of the congkak and planned to start working on machining on the next week. But, after having meeting with manager, i change my plan. I had meeting around 9.30 am with manager, Chan Chee Leong. The meeting is about my last project that need to be done before i end my industrial training. During meeting, i discussed about :-
Besides, my manager gives suggestion to add one more product which is souvenir using technique layering too. Having tought this will not take a longer time, i agree with the suggestion. Below is the shape that i need to trace. The size is around 300x300 mm. And the material use still MDF board but 3mm thick.
By the time meeting is ended, i start tracing for the butterfly. There are total 6 layers need to be trace. Around 3.30 pm i finished tracing. After that, i start copy and paste part by part. By the the 5 pm, i already done two part out of six part.

ACTIVITY I started my day copy and paste for another four part. By the time 8.30 am, i already done copy and paste for overall part.
After that, i transfer overall part into Ucancam software. Around 9.40 am i have done editing for all part including simulation. The Butterfly part ready to machine in week 11.
I planned on doing something for myself. So, i searched the simple product that can be produce within four week and take a little time to finish. The first idea i get from searching was a keychain and a bookmark. Having thought that we still have a lot of extra 3 mm mdf board, so i think i can make extra for my friends too. But, in time i need to focus more on the project before proceed with this one. Below is the example of keychain and bookmark :
After lunch break, i continue on tracing for the keychain first before i proceed with the bookmark. Around 4 pm i have done on tracing.
Before going back, i continue on tracing for the hole of congkak.

ACTIVITY I searched for the best shape of the congkak. As the shape of congkak nowaday is too common, i tried to change it based on own my unique taste. But i still in dilemma either choose traditional or modern shape. Any changes must take consideration based on the technique i will use (layering). After that, i tried to calculate the full dimension of the congkak. I still in dilemma either to use 6 mm or 9 mm MDF board as it will affect the amount of piece of MDF board that need to be machine to become desired thickness. As i planned to have a thickness of 150 mm, the best is 9 mm thicj of MDF board. The overall layer is about 16 layer.
This is my first rough idea for congkak before adding some more design and drawing to make it more attractive.

ACTIVITY I started my day tracing for the same congkak. I added new design for the first layer of congkak. The design will be using technique of 3D engraving or profile machining. The thickness is only 1 mm deep. Below is the example of the flower that will be choosing for a tracing.
But actually, there are some more mandala shape that suitable to use for a tracing. Mandala is beautiful as it contain so many layer inside that can be use and suitable for technique of layering. Most importantly it make me easier to trace and save time. In their most basic form, mandalas are circles contained within a square and arranged into sections that are all organized around a single, central point. Also, mandala already fulfill requirement which i need something that organized around central point. |

ACTIVITY At first, i continue on adding my own design into congkak. I changed the common shape of congkak to the unique one. And then i added some features inclusing circle and flowers with it leaf. Example of features from nanoCAD :
