4. Mini Report

UTM Games 2019 promoted the participations from UTM students all over Malaysia, UTM staffs and UTM Alumni to join the sports event under UTM. This activity was launched by the Prof. Dr. Durrishah binti Idris, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Student Affairs and this event was a large scale event that require hundreds of event management staff and volunteers to make the event successful. In this event, the volunteers were required to able to adapt with sudden task that was given by the event management and deliver the task correctly in short amount of time. The volunteers were assigned to assist sports’ juries to calculate the points for every athletes and helped with the sports equipment, act as a runner to hand over the results to secretary office and etc. the participations of the volunteers in this big event allowed them to learn all about how to manage an event and how to interact with new people that you never met.

5. Self-Reflection

On 14^th and 15^th November 2019, I joined the event as volunteer in the track and field arena at Stadium Azman Hashim UTM Johor Bahru. For two days I was assigned at long jump station to help the judge in measuring the distance and flatten the sand after every jump using shovel. Doing the measuring was easy however the spreading of sand required a lot of energy since the shovel is not an ordinary shovel but huge and heavy shovel. Luckily there was a male volunteer doing the job neatly. With everyone teamwork, we were able to finish the session early than other sports.

During the closing ceremony, the volunteers were given free UTM Games shirt and were required to march with other contestants on the track. Every college that participated in the sports sent their mascot as well as the cheers team. The celebration was full of energy with everyone cheering to the winner and they were having a good time there.
