After spending the time to watch the talk ""Opportunities and Strategies in Crisis" by Captain Cyrano who was one of the three pilots in the cockpit of SQ006, Boeing 747-412 jet that crashed on a fateful rainy night at Taiwan’s Chiang Kai-Shek airport on 31 October, 2000, there are many lessons I have learned from him especially those involving a very challenging career life.
So, the tragedy faced by Captain Cyrano had a profound effect on his life, career, finances and his family. It was also an incident that really unexpected and led Captain Cyrano been terminated from his work. Because of the incident happened, it took a long time for Captain Cyrano to make a comeback to become pilot again. After ten years off, he become a pilot again with Air Asia until today. He is always get invited to give talks to wide ranging audiences such as those from the universities, aviation industries and aviation enthusiasts, including also people in the management who are keen to learn from his valuable past experience.
Based on this talk, aspects such as the needs of a lot of supporters such as family members, friends, seniors and volunteers are very emphasized. It is because, this group will help us when we are in crisis. As told by Captain Cyrano which his family helped him a lot until he decided to make a comeback to become pilot again after ten years off.
In addition, Captain Cyrano also emphasized the importance of building ourselves better than before and building the strong network around us if we are on our crisis moment. This is because we will face bigger challenges in our lives and it will help us to put everything back to normal again.
In conclusion, to be as strong and determined as Captain Cyrano is difficult and take a long time. But, if it is exactly what we want and the life we want after a long time in the hardship, then there is no reason that can prevent us from doing so because we are stronger than we expected. The incident that happened to Captain Cyrano has made him stronger and he has shared that strength with others until today. So honestly, Captain Cyrano's attitude has made me and many people out there proud of him and made him an idol that can inspire us to face all the challenges.
