REFLECTION REGARDING THE TALK ENTITTLED: OPPORTUNITIES AND STRATEGIES IN CRISIS
Based on the webinar that I joined title “Opportunities and Strategies in Crisis” by Captain Cyrano, what I learnt from his talk is how Captain Cyrano manage the crisis which is on 31 October 2000, Captain Cyrano was a pilot of SQ006, Boeing 747-412 jet that crashed on a fateful rainy night at Taiwan’s Chiang Kai-Shek airport. The accident involved flight SQ006 from Singapore Changi Airport to Los Angeles International Airport via Taiwan. It was really an unexpected crisis that can harm his whole life and the organization deals with a disruptive and unexpected event that threatens to harm the organization. In this case, this incident caused difficulties on the organization which causing problems such as financial problem and others. From this Crisis, Captain Cyrano was terminated and he took 10 years off.
After 10 years off, he makes a comeback and become a pilot again with Airasia until today. During his 10 years off, he explored and worked in many industries such as food industries, hospitality (hotel), worked as aviation consultant and taught aviation education (still lecturing), networking and embracing new experiences. From his talk, what I can said is Captain Cyrano managed and deal with his traumatic crisis and came out with opportunity and strategy such as provide a simple and clear rationale, choose the right mix of channels, explain immediate impacts an others.
In a conclusion, what I learnt from Captain Cyrano talk is, we as a student, lecturer, manager and whatever, if something bad happens to us we need to get up grab opportunities and come out with new strategies that can give us encourage continuing our carrier. Other than that, family support is most important part in our life.

In this semester, the courses to be taken are subject English Communication Skills with course code UHLB 1112 section 32 under Dr. Azurra binti Sirri. This course is about how we can communicate better in current surrounding. Next, we were learning basic things such as reading, writing, listening and speaking. In this course also our lecturer gave us special task which is we need to do our own video review, VLOG about our daily routines during MCO (Movement Control Order) and we need to speak in English during this class. For me, it’s quite challenging because I have no confidence and it was difficult for me to communicate in English. I do not know how to use basic grammar such as present tense, past tense, continuous tense, and adverb so on. What I know is, I will use the sentence when it is suitable for the sentence. Besides that, from the assessment that Dr. Azurra gave to us which is we need to do video review and VLOG, I have more confidence to speak in English. From this subject, I learnt how to use grammar in sentence and function of the grammar. Other than that, English Communication Skills subject also taught me that it’s not hard to speak in English because my lecturer use a simple English when she gave an instructions and she speak very clear. Last but not least, I would like to say Thank You to my lecturer, Dr Azurra binti Sirri because taught this subject and helped us a lot to improve our communication skills in English.
