Mini Report:
When I knew the existence of this activity, I felt very excited and eager to take part in it because I got to attend a talk about Buddhism and learn something from it. The main reason that I joined this activity is I hoped that I can use this opportunity to learn some valuable knowledge regarding Buddhism and be socialized. Besides, I can also get to make new friends from this activity. The graduate attributes that are focused on this activity is mainly about communication skills and thinking skills because everyone needs to communicate and think critically during the activity. On that day, my friend and I arrived at the venue at 7.45 pm after having dinner together. Then, we listened to the speech presented by a speaker who has years of experiences. The speech is all about almsgiving, which means do donation in many perspectives including in money, health, physical, material and many more. After the speech, the speaker asked us to join different mini-groups and discussed some questions asked by her. Then, we used this opportunity to make new friends and revised what we had learnt from the talk and think of a solution from the questions. Then, we were asked to present our answers to everyone and the speaker will tell us whether our answers are correct or not. Finally, the activity is finished and we went back to our hostel.
Self-Reflection:
In my opinion, I learnt some important graduate attributes from taking part in this activity. Firstly, I learnt the importance of good communication skills to become a better person. With good communication skills, I was able to talk nicely to my group mates during the group discussion and deliver my message correctly so that everyone can truly understand what I want to tell them. Besides, thinking skills are very important to accomplish certain jobs. During the discussion in the mini group, I was able to implement critical thinking skills to think for the relevant answer so that I can solve the questions asked by the speaker effectively. However, there are still some challenges in this activity. I had poor background knowledge regarding Buddhism because I seldom take part in activities related to Buddhism before that. Luckily, one of my friends had a rich knowledge of Buddhism and he was willing to share his knowledge with me so that I can understand the whole talk presented by the speaker. Overall, I felt happy joining this activity and I am proud of myself for learning something new to me from this activity.
