Leadership and Teamworking Skills

Mini Report:

When I knew that the School of Computing was organizing this activity, I told myself that I had to join it and use this great opportunity to learn something from it. The main reason that I joined this activity is that I hoped that I can use this opportunity to contribute to my school and have some exercises at the same time. Since this activity is gotong-royong, it means that the main objective of this activity is to clean up every corner and room of the School of Computing. The graduate attributes that are focused on this activity is mainly teamworking skills and communication skills because this activity must be done by a group of people but not individually. On that day, we were asked to gather up at the school in the early morning. After that, the person-in-charge of this activity showed us the time table and also the job distribution table of this activity. Then, we started to do our own task and we were able to finish everything by the afternoon. Lastly, we were provided with a lunch meal with drinks before we were allowed to head back to our hostels.

Self-Reflection:

In my opinion, I learnt some valuable graduate attributes from joining this activity. First and foremost, I learnt the importance of team working in order to get the job done or solve a problem. Teamworking is very important in this activity because cleaning up the whole school is not a one-man show, it has to be divided into many tasks and assigned to a group of people. With everyone playing their own role in the group, the job can be done efficiently and effectively. Besides, good communication skills are also required while working with a group of people. With good communication skills, I was able to talk nicely to my friends and job partners so that I can prevent a misunderstanding from happening. For me, I think that I have a good team working skills so that I am clear of what is my tasks and I will finish my tasks in the given time. However, there are still some challenges in this activity. We are required to work with people we are not so familiar with while having task distribution. Luckily, I use my communication skill to communicate with everyone and at last, I end up making new friends. Overall, I felt great joining this activity and I do not mind taking part again in the future.
