While doing this project, our group encountered quite a lot of problems. First of all, we had a hard time coming up with the main theme of this case study as we are afraid our topic will clash with other groups. This is because all sections of PSDA are doing the same project and there are risk of people getting bored to answer surveys of the same topic. After a lot of contemplation we decided on the topic of leisure time. After that, we distributed the survey through social medias and WhatsApp groups. Since we are in Year 1, it was hard to reach out to seniors in Year 2, 3 and 4. Even though we forwarded our survey form to them, not a lot of them answered. What I learned from this is it made me want to be a good senior in the future because I know that these little things that we do can actually be a great help to someone. After a few days, we stopped receiving responses and started to plot the graph in R. This was honestly the hardest part of this project. Since we need to include all types of graphs in the report. I whined and complained a lot because I had to learn how to plot various graph for various types of data by myself. I realized that by complaining I gained nothing so I googled and watched YouTube videos to try understand the R language. Turned out it was not that hard and I completed my part in only a few hours.
In the process of completing the report and video, Movement Control Order was implemented and all of our group members went home so we had to do the project separately. We only communicated through WhatsApp distribute the work. From this, I learned that good communication is the key when we are doing a “long distance group project”. Since we filmed the presentation video separately, the editing is quite hard as every member had different backgrounds for the video, some had good lighting and some had no lighting whatsoever. This is quite frustrating but we made do with what we had. Even though I am not satisfies with the end result, I am quite proud of myself and my group members because we did everything we can. I just think that if the situation is different the video would have come out better.
To conclude, I learned a lot from this project and I have self-reflected. I will try to do better for Project 2. I hope that our findings in this case study can actually benefit everyone and give everyone new interesting information.
