From June to August 2018, I underwent my internship at TechnipFMC in Jalan Tun Razak, Kuala Lumpur for three months where I was assigned as a trainee in the Instrumentation and Control department. During my practical training, I learned a lot about the services that the company offers. TechnipFMC provides complete project life cycle services like conception, feasibility study, front end engineering, detailed engineering, procurement construction, commissioning, test runs, maintenance and decommissioning for the energy industry.

During the first month of my internship, I was taught how to read the P&ID (Piping & Instrumentation Diagram) which shows the piping and process equipment together with the instrumentation and control devices. Throughout the period I familiarized myself with the symbols and descriptions as well as the tag numbers so that I can read the P&ID better. I also practiced doing data insertion, where I transferred datas of each instrument that consists of Tag number, P&ID number, Line Number, Instrument Type, Piping Class, Loop Tag and many more.

During the remaining two months of my internship, I was transferred into a project competition called Barossa, where I got to experience working in a tense environment with other professional engineers, meeting deadlines, doing multiple corrections to perfect my work.  I also got the opportunity to meet engineers of different disciplines from other companies during meetings with vendors. I find it interesting to find out what each company has to offer and how they can help meet the company's requirements.

Picture above shows some of the engineers that I had the pleasure to work with for the Barossa project. They taught me a lot during my internship period, and made me feel like I've always belonged there. Everyone from the front desk officers to the managers and my supervisors are very friendly and welcoming to me. If given the chance, I'd definitely come back to work here again.
