During learning technology and information systems, we got a clearer picture on the software and hardware of a computer, how the networking works and also we got the chance to do industrial visits and listened to industrial talks. This subject is also a fundamental to the subjects that we will take in the next semester as the subtopics that we learned will become a whole another subject in upcoming semesters.
We also managed to get the chance to visit Asian Data Analytics Exchange(ADAX) which is located in Bangsar and CIMB Bank headquarter in Kuala Lumpur. We got a broader views on how people in this field works and how those in data and also computer learning field cooperate with each other.
After listening to the talk, we got a clearer picture on where we are heading with our studies. The skills that we gained from our degree course can be used in the real world on many levels. According to the talk from CIMB, fresh graduate from information technology fields can easily get a job with them in IT field with the right set of skills. To improve our potential in the industry, a lot of planning must be made to refine our skills in short and long term. Classes, workshops and talks can be attended to upgrade our skills to survive in this industry. The market of computer-based workers is often related to being independent and working as a freelancer. So, improving our skills are very crucial to survive in this industry. We could also apply to be an intern in certain computer related companies to get a clearer picture on what and where are we heading with our knowledge and skills. There are certain programmes offered by CIMB and the one that we’re interested to join is the CIMB Fusion: Information Technology (CIMB-DXC Technology). It is a collaboration with DXC Technology which is a world-renowned computer company. The duration for the fusion is 2 years which is 1 year with DXC and another year with CIMB. By participating in this programme, we believe that huge amount of knowledge can be gained from 2 years of experience with big named company. These knowledges can be used to survive in the real world with the skills that has been learned from that 2 years programme.
