On 24th of September 2018, students who from school of computing attended a industrial talk which discussed Global Online Workforce(GLOW) which was conducted by Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation(MDEC) under the Ministry Communication and Multimedia Malaysia(KKMM) for the subject Technology & Information System. The speaker of the talk was Mohd. Ihsanuddin Jamhari. He is one of the GLOW master trainer and works as full-time freelancer.

The speaker, Mohd. Ihsanuddin Jamhari, explained the concept of GLOW programme, the benefits of joining this programme and also the effects of this programme to our country, Malaysia. He shared his working experiences with students then he also showed us some role models who joined the GLOW programme. The speaker showed the way low-income Malaysians gained working experiences and solved their financial problem via this e-Rezeki programme.

eRezeki, is conducted by Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation(MDEC), which is a national programme to help the Bottom-40, is also called as B40, income group whom income below RM4,000 monthly. This group includes blue-collared workers, the unemployed and under-employed, students, housewives, retirees and also senior citizens. This programme only opens to local Malaysians who are 18years old and above and also hold MyKad.       MDEC usually holds some seminars to let Malaysian citizens know more about the program they promoted throughout the whole country. Besides, they also create their official websites and hotline to update the newest information and also solve people’s doubts about their programme. MDEC also posts advertisements about eRezeki via television channels, social media and also radio broadcasting.

Through this programme, MDEC can boost the digital entrepreneurs of our country and also the economic. Not only our country gets the advantages, our Malaysian citizens also get the benefits when undergoing this programme as their part-time or full-time job.

With attending this industrial talk, I was able to learn about one of the programme, eRezeki, which was conducted by MDEC. I also knew that the way people working online and also the actual working scope of a freelancer. Before attending this talk, I had totally no idea about eRezeki and did not realize that there was a programme to guide people earn more through online in our country. I also lacked of knowing the career, freelancer, which can work at home via online.

After attending this talk, I learnt more about the career and got the interest in this occupational. I wish I could be able to earn some pocket money by sharing the skills I had, maybe I can help clients to do web-developing and also programming. Sharing is caring, I believed that I can help people who need the services that I can provide.

As a Malaysia citizen, I had a good chance and experience to promote myself through this global platform by using my skills in order to gain more income. It may improve my technical skills and also some soft-skills at the same time like how to communicate with clients to create a “Win-win” situation. I can also afford what I need and what I want after working as a freelancer, so that I can reduce the burden on parents.

In conclusion, this kind of talk should be held and spread out the idea and concept of the eRezeki throughout the whole country, so that there are more Malaysians gain benefits of this programme. In my opinion, I will try my best to promote this eRezeki programme with my friends and family because I think this programme is very educational and also as a guideline to increase their property and skills.
