For 3 months of my Industrial Training, I received an internship placement ON Semiconductor Malaysia Sdn Bhd. It was located at Senawang Industrial Estate, Seremban, Negeri Sembilan. The period for this training is starting from 11th June 2018 until 30th August 2018 (12weeks).
ON Semiconductor is one of the world largest suppliers of performance chips for power management in electronics systems. ON Semiconductor manufactures a variety of Semiconductor products. ON Semiconductor is a world-renowned company today with manufacturing facilities standing firmly in all parts of the world.
ON semiconductors Malaysia has 2 plants which both located in Seremban. Site 1 is the main manufacturing line for ON Semiconductor Malaysia branch. Site 2 is mainly wafer fabrication and laboratory work. I was placed at site 1. My working schedule started from 8.00a.m until 5.00p.m. The picture below is the site 1 building.
There are several departments at site 1. I was under PPD-CBSM (POWER PRODUCT DIVISION- CLIP BOND SURFACE-MOUNT) department and my unit is back end area. There are several types of package of semiconductor device that my department produced which is SMA, SMB, SMC, SO8 FL, SO8FL DA, SO8FL DS, SO8FL HEFET, U8FL, POWERMITE, POWERPHASE, SOD 123FL and SMA FL. My supervisor is Ms Syukriyah binti Ismail (Process Engineer), also helped by Ms Alia Mastura and Mr Chia Jye Ma which is also Process Engineer.

Generally, my scope of work is attached with process scope at back end area (mold and trim&form process). During the placement I helped my Supervisor which is an engineer to manage the back end area. For example, I do a measurement of a package for some package, do vision image checking every day, record on-hold-lot and also damaged strip, mapping for Molding machine and also know how to use their website for Lot Tracking System. I learned many things during the training even though 12 weeks is not long enough for learn everything. At there, I have also been exposed to the safety module which taught us the importance of safety especially in the line. The safety must not be taken just for granted as human lives depend on it.
Next, I learn how to communicate professionally with the staff and supervisor and develop my soft skill. This make me realize on how I manage to catch up with a new task at a very short. I am facing a several problems and encounter the problem by myself from that makes me become more skillful day by day.
Lastly, this industrial training is beneficial for student to get exposure in real working life. Deepest thanks to all my supervisor, worker that help me to complete this training.
