DAY 40 WEEK 09 (WED, 08-08-18)

After a grueling week of fixing the Trans Air B737, the aircraft is finally certified fit to fly again and the flight crews arrived around 10:00 am to fly the aircraft for a flight test. It is the moment of truth whether the aircraft is fit for a long journey back to Hawaii tomorrow. Around 10:30 am, the chocks and platforms are removed and the auxiliary power unit (APU) is switched on. Minutes later, the two JT8-D turbojet engine roars into action and the sound of the engine is so loud that it can be heard at next hangar. Everyone prays that the aircraft will depart on time without having to go for another time and money consuming maintenance.

Around 11:00 am, the aircraft leaves the AAE apron and taxi towards Runway 33 for a takeoff. Every crew working on the aircraft waits anxiously as the aircraft line up for the departure. After a takeoff from an ATR 72 ahead, the aircraft positioned itself for departure. As the aircraft accelerate down the tarmac, bingo! A lift-off! The aircraft is ready for tomorrow's departure and everyone is breathing a sigh of relief.

After an hour flight, the aircraft is back for final preparation; cleaning and furnishing. Around 5:30 pm, the aircraft is getting refueled for a very, very long journey back to its headquarter; the exotic Hawaii.
