- First and foremost , I would like to thanks our beloved lecturer , Mr. Muzani bin Mustapa for giving us a very vivid lecture session for our first sem as new undergraduate in UTM.
- Through this subject, I had gain a lot of knowledges which is relevant to construction industy ,such as the properties and behaviour of the common materials used in the construction and method of drafting specification.
- Besides that, I also able to have an overall view of the details on construction materials including classification, sources, manufacturing process, test involved and evaluation on appropriateness of construction materials.
- It also includes aspects of concrete technology and soil mechanics.
- For instance, on the 2nd week, I am able to identify the characteristics, properties, types and behavioural of construction materials which is cement.
- Cement is any materials that binds or unites. When water is added to cement, it is called paste while paste added to aggregates , they will form concrete.I learnt that there are many types of cement due to their different functions.
- On the other hand, I also achieved another learning outcome which is recognised the manufacturing process of constructions materials together with its quality control aspects.Through out this lecture, i also had watch the manufacturing process of cement, from the video, i knew that there are two ways to produce cement which are dry and wet process.
- For lecture on the 5th week, I realized that there are many factors can affects the strength, workability and durability of concrete.
- Besides that, I also exposed how to demonstrate the mixing and testing of concrete .
- Moreover, I am able to understand the process of mixing concrete at the suitable ratio through the slump and cube test that had been carried out in group .
