TAN WEE TENG's Reflection
As an undergraduate of the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, I would definitely agree that industrial training is an exceptional opportunity for us to get to the ground level and experience the things that we would have never gained through going straight into a job. I am grateful to UTM and the Top Glove Corporation Bhd for giving us this wonderful opportunity.
The main objective of the industrial training at the Top Glove Corporation Bhd is to provide an opportunity to undergraduates to identify, observe and practice how science, technology and engineering are applicable in the real industry. It is not only to get experience on technical practices but also to observe management practices and to interact with fellow workers.
Throughout my training at the Factory 25, I have learned and gained lots of knowledge and experiences, a million thanks to all the great people in the Top Glove Corporation Bhd who are driven by compassion, by faith, by responsibility, by idea, and by commitment.
I am grateful to have completed my industrial training at the Top Glove Corporation Bhd, and I am blessed, and couldn’t be more grateful to have Ms. Balqis Umaira as my supervisor. Despite of our differences, in backgrounds, she accepts, embraces, nurtures and cares for me wholeheartedly.
And it was from her, that I learned that, learning is not simply attending classes, listening to lectures, or reading notes. Nor is it merely gaining knowledge. Learning is changing what to do into doing what we know. It’s about changing. If we have not changed, we have not learned.
And it was from her, that I learned that, academic result is simply a good indication of knowledge at one point in time, it is never the final word that defines one’s ability. It is the hard work, dedication, discipline and perseverance that defines one’s ability.
And it was from her, that I learned that, money is not the only thing we should be chasing for. Wealth and happiness belong to those who are self-sufficient. True wealth is not just about money, it is measured by how much freedom that money buys and how much fulfilment you have in your life. Money can buy you freedom, permitting you to do things, others cannot do, and go places, others cannot go. In turn, money can imprison you. Like a ship and its anchor, money can anchor you to a business or profession filled with responsibilities, obligations, deadlines and stress, it is more than just money.
In closing, my 12 weeks industrial training at GMP Medicare Sdn. Bhd., subsidiary company of Top Glove Corporation Bhd can be epitomized into just one word – amazing. I would like to send my deepest gratitude to everyone who had given me support and guidance during this 12 weeks.
Pada mulanya, saya rasa pelik tentang subjek ini kerana semua senior saya tidak mempunyai subjek ini. Berdasarkan tajuk subjek ini, saya ingat subjek ini adalah tentang sains dan teknologi. Tetapi, apabila saya dengar dari rakan lai, subjek ini akan mengandungi topik yang berkaitan dengan agama Islam. Saya sangat risau bahawa saya tidak dapat memahami apa yang diajar. Tetapi, saya masih berusaha untuk memahami subjek ini.
The Lantern Festival or the Spring Lantern Festival is a Chinese festival celebrated on the fifteenth day of the first month in the lunisolar Chinese calendar. This year was the first year UTMKL organised this event. I was so grateful to be one of the committee of this event. I am one of the emcee of this event. This is my first time to be the emcee so I was really nervous. I worked hard and always asked for senior opinion on doing emcee. The day has come and I did my best on the stage. This was such a good experience and I wish I could be the committee of second year lantern festival in other position.
SUKAN KOLEJ ANTARA MAHASISWA (SUKAM) is a sports day for students in UTM that are staying in different hostel. Me and my team members represent Kolej Siswa Jaya (KSJ) to take part in basketball competition. This is the first time I went to UTM JB and also the first time I went to JB. From KL to JB, it takes almost 6 hours to travel, it was a really long travelling time that makes me feel never want to go to JB again. There are many good teams in UTM JB. After a few round of competition, we lost to Kolej Tun Razak (KTR) . They are really strong and skillful. We got first runner-up for this basketball competition. This is a very good experience, in this sukam, we are able to know people with the same hobby and also able to share our experience and skills.
Japan day, is a day for us to know and understand the culture of Japan. 2017 is a year where Japan and Malaysia maintain a good cooperation for 60 years. This is the first time I can really get to know about Japanese culture. During Japan Day, we are asked to sell Takoyaki in a stall and that was an amazing experience because I learnt how to make round and delicious takoyaki. During lunch time, we are given a chance to walk around all the stalls and we went to play japanese mini games and also tried some japanese traditional food. After that, we went to a stall renting yukata for us to try and take photo. My friends and I decided to try and take photos. It's was a really good experience. I wish to join Japan Day 2018 for more exciting events.
Circle of Stars is an activity organised by the language academy of UTMKL with English teachers of SMKTTDI held in Perpustakaan Awam Shah Alam in hope to share and cultivate potential students of scoring straight A`s in PT3. We are asked to be the volunteers of this program. In this program, we have so much fun with all those PT3 students and I realised that the student nowadays are more stressful as compared to my generation. Next, we went to experience 6D movie which I never experienced before. Not only that, we also visited the most wonderful library as compared to the library we ever seen. Lastly, I would like to thanks Dr Normy for giving such an opportunity to us to learn so much of knowledge.
OMG ! This is the first thing came into my mind when Dr Nabilah told us that will be a mini project for Thermodynamics subject. After that shocked, my group leader added me into a group. We started to discuss about the project and also work distribution. This mini project is stressful to us because on that time, Mathematics test 2 was just around the corner. This is a challenge to us and we have to face it. We distribute the job and each of us did our part well. On the day of presentation, we were so nervous because we worried that Dr Nabilah will ask difficult question haha and we were the last group to present. Time has come and it's our time to present, we show our best to Dr Nabilah and explain to her the knowledge we learnt. The presentation was good and well-prepared. To sum up, I would like to thanks all of my fellow course mates for helping each other during class and also thanks to our beloved Dr Nabilah and Prof. Masa Goto, thank you for giving us so much knowledge on thermodynamics.
As a new student of UTM, I was so lucky to have chance to take part in this junior camp which is organised by PMB. In this junior camp, I learnt how to cooperate with friends to solve all the questions we faced during the camp. Next, this camp also strengthen the bond between me and my seniors. This camp brings a lot of benefits to me, I would like to join this camp in future if I have the chance.
