MUHAMMAD SYAHMI BIN MUHAMMAD ZALY SHAH's Reflection
Last class we had to do an activity which required us to learn on how to gather information since next week on 2nd of october we are going to have our first industrial day where we will get to know all of the clients that we will be working with this semester. Hence, It is very important for us to know and understand what is the right way to gather information.
In this activity Mdm Hawaniah, our SAD lecturer divided us in to two groups that is the interview group which consist of BIOS,QUANTUM,PENTIUM and DATAFUSION and the other group is the questionnaire group that consist of ROSETTA,ANALOGUE and MICRON. We were given approximately given 15 minutes to figure out all of the question and after that we will do the interview session for the interview group and we will show the questionnaire for the questionnaire group. For the interview group the lecturer randomly choose two sub group where one group will act as the interviewer and the other will act as the interviewee. The interviewer group was BIOS group whereas the interviewee group was the DATAFUSION group. After the two group had conducted the session, the lecturer had given a several feedback about the presentation. The lecturer where quite happy about the choices of the question because all of the question were relevant to be ask and the lecturer were quite happy about the last part where the interviewer recap back all the requirements that the client needed for the new system. However, the lecturer did remind us a few things such as to keep eye contact when we were talking with the client, there will only be one person that will jot down everything, ask permission from the client if we want to record the whole interview process and many more.
For the questionnaire group, only one group was selected to present their questionnaire. The lecturer remind us that it is better for us to divide the questionnaire into a couple of question accordingly because not all of the question were related to their area of field.
From the activity that had been done, I have learnt many things about gathering information. And i hope that i will use all of my knowledge in gathering information during the first industrial day next week.
When students start college, they are usually prepared to see big changes in their social and academic lives. A new study, however, has found that students’ exercise habits may also change when they start at a university.
Two researchers from the Mannheim Institute of Public Health, Social and Preventive Medicine surveyed 689 college students for the study, published in the September issue of “Science and Sports.” The researchers found that the proportion of students who reported decreased physical activity was significantly higher among those in their first through third semesters of college than students who had been in college longer. In addition, students who moved to a new city for college were more likely to have less physical activity than those who did not change residence in between high school and college.
So,my team and myself had conducted a project whether it is aplicable for the UTM students.
Briefly,a speech that has been presented by Prof. Dr. Rose Alinda binti Alias regarding on 4th industrial revolution (4IR) were held at the seminar hall in N28A,Faculty of computing at University Technology Malaysia (UTM) last week.In her speech, she explained us about what is the 4th industrial revolution, what is industry 4.0,what is education 4.0 and UTM 4.0 4IR journey. It was very important for the speech to being held because as a science computer student,4th industrial revolution is very related to our field of study and we have to know how 4th industrial revolution is going to fundamentally alter the way we live, work and relate to one another that must be integrated and comprehensive as been said by Klaus Schawb,President of World Economic Forum (WOF).From the speech, we notice that there were not many students who knew about 4th industrial revolution. But after the speech, we knew a lot about 4th industrial revolution.I personally hope that there were more public lecture to be held in the future because there were more knowledge that we need to gain about IT related topics.
The visit was held on 3th of October 2017 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre and Telekom Malaysia Innovation Centre,Cyberjaya. The visit was organised by Dr Chan Weng Howe,Dr Nazmona binti Mat Ali and other Technology and Information System lecturers from the Faculty of Computing,UTM,Skudai. The visit was attended by data engineering first year students. The aim of the visit is to give a brief overview to the students about big data analytics,IoT and many more.Through the visit, the students can undestand what is big data analytics,IoT and what it takes to be a data engineer and also data scientist. The visit also clarify the work prospect and the career path for the students so that we as a student know what the future can give to us.From the visit, the main important thing that we learn is that big data analytics and IoT is expanding and widely used around the world especially at the business, finance and government sector and it is a very important aspect in one’s organisation. The aim of the exhibition is that in this day and age we’re faced with an unprecedented influx of data, while everyone is aware of the value of data science and big data, harnessing its value and aligning it with strategic organizational goals still largely remains a challenge for most where most big data conferences are either too broad to be appreciated by techies or too technical to be useful for decision makers, Next Big Tech Asia aims to be the intersection for that missing link that connects the dots between big data and real-life use cases.Next Big Tech Asia 2017 is a big data conference happening in Malaysia that will illustrate actionable case-studies for the following sectors; Healthcare, Banking and Government. It is the anchor event for Big Data Week, the Global Festival of Data and it is jointly organised by MDEC and Knowledge Group.
The visit was held on 27th of September 2017 at the Centre of Information and Communication Technology (CICT),UTM.The visit was organised by Dr Chan Weng Howe,Dr Nazmona binti Mat Ali and other lecturers Technology and Information System lecturers from the Faculty of Computing,UTM,Skudai. The visit was attended by all first year faculty of computing students.
I have learned that long-term goals are best achived when I break them into shorter goals. My short-term goal is find a position that will put me in a forward-moving company with solid performance and future projections. As part of a team, I want to add value and continue to grow the company. My long-term goal will depend on where the company goes. Besides that, it is also involve growing with a company where I can continue to learn, take on additional responsibilities, and contribute as much value as I can. I love a company that emphasizes professional development opportunities. I intend to take advantage of all of these. My plan is to move into a position of responsibility where I can lead a team. By
The visit would improve my self abilities by introducing me to the environment of a working industry. It will give me a front edge view of the real thing. Next, by attending the visit. I also obtain the will to improve myself in every aspect in order to develop myself into a great data engineer in the future. I also have equipped my memory in what an industry looks like, and I also can use this as a guidance for my future.
Since currently CICT is developing the biggest big data centre in Asia,I personally think that this will be a big opportunity for me to learn and master big data because CICT have complete structure and facilities for me to learn more about big data
On the third week of august,I had been chosen to pursue my studies at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) in Bsc of Science Computer in Data Engineering. It was my first choice of study when I fill in at the UPU website. The reason why I choose that course on the first place is because I knew that Data engineering is one of the most crucial area of work on the 21st century as everyone was moving forward towards the 4th Industrial Revolution and I want to be a part of them.
My first semester was quite a little hard for me at first because I am not used to the university life. But as time goes by,I can finally get myself together and I have no problem with the university life.I take various subject during my first semster such as programming technique, discrete structure, digital logic, technology and information system.
