Looking back on my internship at Kollect Systems Sdn. Bhd., I can honestly say it was an eye-opening and valuable experience. Coming in, I didn’t know exactly what to expect, but I was eager to learn — and I ended up learning a lot more than I imagined, both technically and personally.
During my time at Kollect, I worked closely with the team on their KeiL (Kollect e-Invoice Link) system. I was involved in various testing phases like SIT (System Integration Testing), UAT (User Acceptance Testing), and testing in the Bank Environment. At first, it felt overwhelming, but with guidance from my teammates and a lot of hands-on experience, I got more confident in navigating test cases, identifying issues, and raising tickets using OpenProject. These tasks helped me understand how important details, teamwork, and communication are in real-world projects.
Aside from testing, I also got the chance to dive into Laravel and Bootstrap, tools I had only heard of before. With them, I helped build and style parts of the system’s front-end and back-end. It was challenging at first, especially figuring out how everything connects, but slowly things started making sense. I was proud whenever I could contribute something that actually worked and made the system better.
What stood out the most to me wasn’t just the technical part — it was how much I grew in terms of responsibility, time management, and adaptability. There were times when things didn’t go smoothly, bugs didn’t make sense, or deadlines felt tight, but those moments taught me to keep learning, stay calm, and ask questions when I needed help.
The work culture at Kollect was supportive. Everyone was approachable and willing to guide me, which made the learning process a lot less intimidating. I always felt like I was part of the team, not just an intern.
In the end, I’m really thankful for this opportunity. It gave me real-world experience, new skills, and a clearer view of what I want to do in the future. I’ll carry this experience with me as I move forward in my career.
