Mini Report:
This program is hosted by the Counselling Centre and it’s a talk about vaginismus given by a obstetrician and gynecologist, Dr Maisarah binti Ahmad.
This program aims to raise awareness about vaginismus and educate attendants about the importance of sexual health education especially for married couples. Vaginismus is a medical condition which can make penetration, including sexual intercourse, painful or even impossible. This condition is often rooted in psychological factors, such as anxiety, fear, or past traumatic experiences, and it can have a significant impact on an individual's sexual and emotional well-being. It's essential to seek professional help and support to manage and overcome vaginismus effectively.
From this talk, the main graduate attribute gained is global citizen. Educating myself about taboo social issues pertaining to health allows me to be informed enough to engage with global issues that we should be more aware of.
Self Reflection:
Attending the talk on vaginismus by Dr. Maisarah binti Ahmad was eye-opening. The program aimed to raise awareness about this medical condition, highlighting the importance of sexual health education, especially for married couples.
One key takeaway from the talk is how important education and information is to be a global citizen. It emphasizes that global citizenship isn't limited to international matters but extends to sensitive health issues that affect people worldwide. By educating ourselves about such topics, we can engage with global concerns more effectively and contribute to a compassionate and informed world.
This program left me more informed and inspired to address sensitive topics and contribute to a more supportive community where people are empowered to seek help for their well-being.
