UTM CAREER CARNIVAL 2023 /
Self-Reflection on Participation in UTM Career Carnival 2023

This self-reflection report explores my participation in the UTM Career Carnival 2023. It examines how the activities have affected the growth of my Graduate Attributes, identifies my own advantages and strengths in relation to the activities, and talks about the difficulties that were faced during the event and how to overcome them.

My Graduate Attributes have evolved significantly as a result of the UTM Career Carnival 2023. First and foremost, it improved my employability by giving me insightful information about market trends, industry expectations, and fundamental skills needed in my field of interest. I gained useful skills to properly market myself to potential companies through classes on resume writing, interviewing, and personal branding. Second, the event placed a strong emphasis on networking opportunities, allowing me to widen my professional network and learn from more seasoned individuals. My networking abilities increased as a result, and I gained a greater appreciation for the value of developing business contacts.

I was able to take full advantage of my own skills and strengths to participate as much as possible in the UTM Career Carnival 2023. First of all, I was able to interact with business experts with confidence, ask insightful questions, and successfully express my experiences and interests because to my great communication skills. Second, I was able to manage the event's many activities and take advantage of the available networking chances because to my proactive and adaptable attitude. In addition, my research abilities let me thoroughly investigate the organisation before the employment fair, which allowed me to have relevant talks with recruiters.

I found it difficult to adequately manage my time during the event in order to attend several workshops and interact with various businesses. I overcame this by prioritising the programmes and businesses that complemented my career objectives and scheduling my time accordingly. In order to make the most of my time and attend the sessions that were most pertinent to me, I also used the event's mobile app or programme guide to construct a personalised schedule.

At the career expo, it was difficult to approach and strike up conversations with business people. I practised and prepared an elevator pitch to boldly introduce myself in order to overcome this. I also took advantage of the chance to attend panel talks or workshops on networking and professional communication to learn more about effective networking techniques.

In conclusion, taking part in the UTM Career Carnival 2023 had a significant influence on the growth of my Graduate Attributes, especially in networking and employability. My ability to communicate well, be proactive, and conduct research were assets during the event. To overcome difficulties like time management and discussion starters, strategic planning, preparation, and obtaining advice from workshops and panels were necessary. Overall, this experience helped me gain useful knowledge for my future career, broadened my professional network, and gave me the tools I need to succeed in it.
