Self Reflection

Self-Reflection:

1) Impact on Graduate Attributes:
a) Intercultural Competence: Engaging with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds has expanded my intercultural competence. Through cultural performances, workshops, and discussions, I developed a deeper appreciation for different traditions, customs, and perspectives. This attribute is crucial in our interconnected world, enabling me to navigate diverse environments with sensitivity and adaptability.

b) Global Awareness: The program has enhanced my global awareness by exposing me to a wide range of cultural heritage from across the world. It broadened my understanding of global issues and the interconnectedness of societies. This attribute fosters a sense of responsibility as a global citizen, motivating me to actively contribute to a more inclusive and sustainable world.

2) Self-Strength/Advantage:
My openness to new experiences and willingness to step outside my comfort zone have been my self-strengths throughout the program. I embraced the opportunity to learn from and engage with individuals from different cultural backgrounds, allowing me to fully immerse myself in the activities. My genuine curiosity and respect for diversity enabled me to forge meaningful connections and make the most of the cultural exchange opportunities.

3) Challenges and Overcoming Them:
One of the challenges I encountered during the program was language barriers. Interacting with participants from diverse linguistic backgrounds sometimes posed communication difficulties. To overcome this challenge, I actively sought ways to bridge the gap by utilizing non-verbal communication, seeking assistance from bilingual participants, and fostering a supportive environment that encouraged patience and understanding.

Another challenge was adapting to cultural differences and navigating unfamiliar customs. To address this, I actively observed and learned from others, sought guidance from program facilitators, and approached cultural differences with an open mind and respect.
