The PERSAKA-hosted Code on Weekend: Python was a much-anticipated event that intended to expose students to the world of Python coding. It provided a beginner-friendly setting for attendees to dig into the foundations of coding as an inclusive programme available to all students. A professional speaker was recruited to advise and educate the students the fundamentals of Python programming to offer a holistic learning experience. The major purpose of Code on Weekend: Python was to inculcate in the participants a love of coding. The event sought to make coding accessible and entertaining for everybody by providing a hands-on approach and interactive courses. Participants were able to comprehend the fundamental ideas of Python, learn about its practical applications, and build confidence in their coding abilities. As a crew member in the registration department, I actively participated in this event. It was my job to guarantee that the registration procedure went well for the attendees. My responsibility included guiding them through the registration process, addressing their questions, and establishing a welcome environment. I hoped to deliver a nice and organised experience for all guests by successfully handling the registration counter.
Overall, Code on Weekend: Python was an outstanding programme that not only provided students with the fundamentals of Python coding but also sparked a desire for coding in them. By actively engaging as a crew member in the registration department, I had the honour of aiding the participants' journey and contributing to the event's overall success.
Self Reflection
Participating as a crew member in the Code on Weekend: Python registration department presented me with significant opportunity to build and improve my communication, thinking, leadership, collaboration, and adaptability abilities. My communication abilities were tested as I engaged with students from various backgrounds. I had to explain the registration procedure clearly, give clear directions, and handle any issues or questions presented by the attendees. Engaging in meaningful dialogues with students helped me to fine-tune my communication style and modify it to meet the requirements and degrees of comprehension of various individuals. Furthermore, the event posed a situation in which quick thinking was required. When there was a minor change in the registration procedure, where I had to respond quickly and make last-minute changes to guarantee that everything went smoothly. This needed rapid decision-making, problem-solving, and thinking on my feet. Adapting to the scenario helped me to keep the registration process on track and provide a great experience for all attendees. Moreover, working as a crew member in the registration department offered me with possibilities for leadership and cooperation. I worked closely with my other crew members, aiding them with their responsibilities and providing assistance when required. This experience taught me the significance of cooperation, effective communication, and contributing to the event's overall success. I not only demonstrated leadership qualities by actively engaging and assisting other crew members, but I also promoted a sense of togetherness and belonging among the team.
Overall, my participation at Code on Weekend: Python as a crew member in the registration department was an unforgettable experience. It gave me excellent opportunity to improve my communication, critical thinking, leadership, and collaboration abilities. The lessons taught and interactions with students and fellow crew members facilitated personal and professional development while also contributing to the event's overall success.
