“Code On Weekend: Python” was a great opportunity for the UTM students to learn and practice coding using Python, one of the world’s most popular and powerful programming languages. This event provided students with the tools, knowledge, and support needed to hone their python coding skills. The event was held by PERSAKA, an academic club for all students of the Faculty of Computing. This event was held on 26th November.
The event included lectures, hands-on coding challenges, and open discussion about coding in python. Attendees also had the opportunity to collaborate with each other and share their coding experiences.
I was the mentor of this event. My role as a mentor was to provide guidance and support to the students in their coding journey. I provided them with resources on the language and coding best practices, as well as helped them with specific coding issues they encountered. I also reviewed their code and offered feedback on ways to improve it. Additionally, I helped them to think logically and problem-solve difficult coding challenges. Finally, I provided motivation and encouragement to help the students stay focused and motivated throughout the program.
This event has increased my leadership skill, communication skill, team working skill, adaptability skill and many more. I have learned and experienced a lot of new things through this event.
At the end of the event, participants walked away with the skills needed to confidently code in python and the confidence to tackle any coding project.
