Mini Report:

Run For Hope 2021 was a charity running event which was held in collaboration of Japanese Culture Club (JCC) from UTM Kuala Lumpur and Japanese Club (JC) from UTM Johor Bahru. In addition, this event also had a collaboration with an organization or industry which were SESO Malaysia, MOVE-ON and Running Malaysia. The objectives of this program was to raise funds for a non-profit organization that combat food waste and food poverty while also enhancing general societal awareness of food waste and food poverty. Therefore all of the funds obtained from Run For Hope 2021 were absolutely donated to SESO Malaysia. However, due to the number of Covid cases during the pandemic, the charity run was held virtually where the participants are allowed to run from their residences instead of gathering with all participants and compete at one place in the same track and in the same time. In addition, the participants also could run whenever and wherever they want as long as the safety is secured.

For this charity run, I had volunteered myself to join the event by becoming the committee member of Multimedia Department as I am very interested in designing posters and would like to show my creative side. My job scope for this program consist of designing an advertising posters, t-shirt and medals for the participants. I also had to create a social media account which were Facebook page and Instagram and scheduled the posts include of posters and videos automatically in a timely manner based on our calendar as discussed and planned with the higher committee. Moreover, I also had to prepare and present all of the material that was designed weekly.  Brainstorming ideas also was held during the meeting to improve and get a better products outcome which suits the identity of Japanese Culture Club.

Self Reflection:

This program has taught me to have a critical thinking skills especially in term of creativity, open-minded and problem solving. During the weekly meeting, I had received a lot of compliments as well as critics. The critics were received from the higher committee as they want the best outcome out of the best. Therefore, I had to keep improving my poster and be as creative as possible to enhance the idea and get more participation from the public. In order to do that, I have to be open-minded and took all of the comments in positive way to be more productive and obtain the best idea for the event. However, the main skills that I had gained was teamworking skills. I am able to tolerate and cooperate with all of the committees to ensure the event ran smoothly by accomplishing my assigned task. In addition, I am ready to improve myself by accepting all of the comments and ideas given by other committees and respect each other's decisions. As an example, during the process of producing a t-shirt for the charity run, there was an issue where some of the committees prefered design A meanwhile the others prefered design B. Therefore as a conclusion, my department and I had decided to be fair by improving only of the t-shirt's designed with the most votes. On the other hand, there were other challenge occured where one of the Multimedia committee's laptop was broken. So we had arranged an emergency meeting to handover the job to other Multimedia committees, fairly. Hence, communication skills are very crucial for everyone especially when working in team.
