4. Mini Report

On April 27th, 2021, I attended a webinar which was organized by Persatuan Mahasiswa Sains Komputer (PERSAKA) with the title "Career Track In Data Engineering". An expert speaker from TMONE who is also a Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) graduate, Ms. Qistina Batrisyia binti Azman Shah was invited to share her insights on the career tracks in Data Engineering or any data-related fields and her working experience as a Data Engineer in TMONE.

Ms. Qistina's degree path at UTM was one of the topics discussed throughout the presentation. Ms. Qistina also discussed her industrial training with TMONE, as well as her employment as a Social Media Data Analyst and Data Engineer at TMONE. Ms. Qistina also discussed employment options for fresh graduates in the Data Engineering profession, which may be explored in adjacent disciplines such as online analytics, cloud computing, and many more. Ms. Qistina discussed the obstacles she experienced at work and gave the attendees information on the future of Data Engineering and the abilities they need further acquire and improve. Because the programme was streamed live, viewers were able to post their questions in the Facebook Live comment box during the Q&A session. Last but not least, Muhammad Akmal Hisham, President of PERSAKA, was asked to make the concluding statement for DESYMP '21. Overall, DESYMP '21 was deemed a success and concluded successfully

5. Self-reflection

From this talk, the students are able to understand the future prospect and career opportunities of data engineering. This talk has explained the importance of having the ability to adapt to the culture of new communities and work environment. For me, I think it is crucial for students to work effectively under pressure and have initiative to change. The speaker has also told us how important to brush up our soft skills. This make me realize that having the ability to make clear presentations to a diverse audience with confidence is very important in my future paths. Not only that, she emphasize that engineers always work in a group. From this, I realize that I must think expand on and discuss ideas among the team more often. It helps me to look for alternative ideas and have more creative solutions by listening for different perspectives.
